When I am back here at hometown, I have the privilege of becoming (or feeling like) a small little daughter again, to be taken care by my mom and dad. That includes being advised by my mom again and again to get a hair cut. She is still the same — she does not prefer too long hair because she thinks super long hair will absorb all my body's nutrients.
Is my hair too long?
Actually, I wanted to try to keep long hair till the waist just to see what's the length I could bear. But the hot weather also convinced me to just cut short a little.
Finally, I went with my mum and youngest son to a saloon in a mall this morning.
ABBY SALOON
A cosy little saloon at the corner of the mall. Not as spacious at those at KL, but good enough. The boss greeted us and once he heard my mum talking English with my son, he asked, "Not from Sibu?". Told you in my previous post that most Sibu people speak either Mandarin, or Foochow or Hokkien or Malay. You are like an aliean if you speak English. I mean, people will know you are a tourist there.
I was asked to lie down to wash my hair. Something new to me, because at KL, usually the hairdresser just spray water on hair to wet it. This one, we needed to lie down at the wash hair area. After wetting the hair, the lady asked whether I wanted to get my hair wash with shampoo and conditioner, as well as getting some head massage. For RM22. I usually was not too interested but since I was at hometown and it was cheap....GO FOR IT!!!
Wah, the head massage was what I really needed.
She washed my hair plus massage for quite long, around 15 minutes. I almost dozed off. Lol. (I usually wash my own hair for only 1 minute or even lesser? Please tell me I am normal.)
On the seat.
It was done and I was guided to my seat. And I was given shoulder massage. Another needed massage. I could literally feel all tensed gone. So liberating. I hoped it was longer but the shoulder massage was shorter than head massage.
Comb into zombie mode
Then my wet hair was comb into a zombie or ghost mode. Coz my long front hair covering my whole face till my mask got wet. I couldn't see anything at all. What a funny experience. Then, she asked me to wait for the main person boss to come. I wondered why must had my hair covered my face but well, I guessed just let them did it their way. I just felt it was so different from the saloon at KL. I was giggling lah...
Cutting
The boss came and cut my hair. Maybe the way he hold the scissors and comb, somehow I felt he was not so skillful or either that he was sleepy. He dropped the comb once. And dropped the scissors another time. I was praying he would not drop the scissors on my head. Wah piangggg! (just my own slang, you may ignore)
Drying
Hair cut done. I asked to cut 2 inches shorter because I want my hair to be long enough to tie. Usually, I tie my hair when I do housechores at home.
The lady who helped washed my hair came to dry my hair, followed by setting my hair into curls temporarily. She said my face suit curl? Not sure did she meant I have aunty look. Lol...
My attention was on her tattooed arm. 😂
Hair setting done! !
Total time used was 40 minutes. My mom and my youngest son were already outside waiting for me. They had walked around the mall and bought some stuffs too.

When I reached home, I asked husband, straight hair is nicer or wavy hair? He said both look nice. What do you think?
I personally prefer straight hair because I am absolutely a low-maintenence woman. Still not used to putting hair oil or serum or anything. And am learning to use lotion recently. Oh well, this was just temporary curls which would last only a couple of hours. Good to have a try. My son said I looked like Barbie Doll in wavy hair. I took that as a compliment.

I, too, think you look nice with either the straight hair or the curly hair. My hair was always long and straight for many years. When I was a teen, I would sleep with curlers in my hair so it would be a little bit curly the next day. It was not comfortable. Later, in the 1980s and 1990s, I got perms for about 15 years, so I had curly hair. It was fashionable at the time. Now I keep it quite short and all I do is blow it dry. I don't like to fuss over my hair any more!
