Hello Everyone,

How are you all? Hope all of you are having a great time. Mine is going very well.
It's been almost 1 year of "Corona Pandemic Situation" running around the world. We are really tried of this now.
But hey, There is good news. The coronavirus vaccine has arrived. So need to worry anymore. Soon this "Corona Pandemic Situation" will come to an end.

In October last year, a few friends decided to go on a tour together. Actually it was my idea. Everyone was in a very bad situation because of the lockdown. We all agreed we needed a refreshment. I told everyone about Chandranath hill which is located in Sitakunda of Chittagong.

There was a reason I said about this location:

  • In just two days we will be able to tour, a hill, two fountains and a sea beach.

  • The cost of this tour would be very cheap.

Since a friend of ours works, we had time on Saturday and Sunday. After discussion, After discussions we decided to start our journey on Friday, October 16th.

Some facts about Chandranath:

Chandranath hill is 1152 feet high above sea level. This hill is situated in Sitakunda, Chittagong. This hill is one of the separated part of Himalayas. Chandranath hill crosses Assam and Tripura states of India and then it entered Chittagong division in Bangladesh.

How to go to Chandranath hill:

  • There are many buses from Dhaka to Sitakunda. Shohagh, Hanif, Shamoly, Unique are very popular buses on this road. Buses leave from Gabtoli and Saidabad bus stands every day.

  • One ticket prize is 500-600 Taka.($6-$7)

The beginning of our journey:

Our bus will leave for Sitakunda at 10 pm from Gabtoli Bus Stand. My friends and I arrived at the Bus Stand at 9.30pm. We were all very excited. This was the first time we were going on a tour together. But our bus did not arrive on time. We were very upset because the bus was late. Finally at 11 pm, our bus came.

We are all inside the bus

Our bus left Gabtali bus stand at 11.20 pm for Sitakunda. There was not much crowd inside the bus. Most of the back seat was empty. We friends started having a lot of fun. We were excited about who would enjoy it. It was October, so it was a mild winter. We were very comfortable inside the bus. It took us a while to cross Dhaka due to traffic jam. But after crossing Dhaka, our bus started moving very fast.

After a journey of about 2.5 hours, the bus stopped at Comilla. We then got off the bus and got a little fresh, eating light food.

During the journey break in Comilla.

After a 30 minute break, our Hanif Paribahan bus resumed its journey. We didn't sleep all night. We were going to Sitakunda for the first time. Although we found out all about this tour by watching a few videos on you tube, still we were a little worried.

The biggest problem is when the bus drops us off at Sitakunda stand. Because then it was 3 o'clock at night. No shops were open at the stand. Even not a single ticket counter was open. We didn't even book a hotel. After some distance, we found a ticket counter open. We sit there until morning 4.30.

My friend and I were having tea at Sitakunda stand

Then we came to Sitakunda market to rent a hotel. But due to the scarcity of hotels, it takes us a long time to get a hotel. Everyone got up at the hotel and freshened up very quickly. Then we set off for Chandranath hill. Our first morning in Sitakunda. Winter is almost near. So it was cold in the morning.

There were 5 of us. So we rented an auto from Sitakunda market and went to near Sitakunda hill. The rent was 20 Taka per person.

On The Way To Chandranath Hill.

It took us 20 minutes to reach Chandranath hill from Sitakunda market. Get off the car and walk some distance to the entrance to the mountain.

This is the way to climb Chandranath hill.

It's a wonderful place to be. Greenery all around. We were all amazed and began to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. The call of birds, trees and mountains all combine to create a mind-blowing environment.

Happy Us.

There you see Chandranath.

We started climbing the hill. Looked very good at first. But after about 15 minutes, we all lost a lot. Climbing a mountain is not as easy as we thought. It would have taken 1200 feet to climb, but we seem to have been harassed by 100 feet.

A pure candid

But we did not stop there. I will return only if Chandranath wins today. But to be honest, it was as much fun as it was for us. And we were not alone. There were many more travel thirsty people like us.

We are tired travelers.

After about 40 minutes we see a small fountain. From here two roads lead to the top of the hill. A complete staircase is another dirt road. We decided to go up the dirt road when we went up and down the stairs when we came down.

But sadly, a friend of ours ended his journey from here. Due to some physical problems. The other 4 of us continued our mission.

Screenshot (1840).png

It took us more than 1 hour to reach the top of the hill. Unbelievable but true that after climbing the mountain all our fatigue was gone. We were amazed to see the beauty of nature and wondered how beautiful God's creation is?

The beauty of nature from 1200 feet.

The 4 of us were at the top of Chandranath for about 30 minutes. There is also a temple called Chandranath Temple. At the very top of the hill I saw some hill people cultivating zoom. I was thinking to myself how these people go through this mountain path every day?

Zoom farming.

Seeing that I am taking pictures, he will take it now.

Chondronath Temple.

Now it's time for us to get down. We started down another road according to our planning.

Screenshot (1854).png

Screenshot (1855).png

The path we were coming down was a complete staircase. I didn't count the exact number but I am sure that we came across about 1000 stairs that day. The day was as much fun as it was painful.

Screenshot (1857).png

But there is a proverb in Bengali "If you don't suffer, you won't be a gainer." If we had not suffered that day, we might not have been able to enjoy the beauty of Chandranath. Once again we came down from the hill after trekking for about 1 hour.

This temple is located at the foot of the hill. I do not know the name of the temple. It is said that worship is done inside the temple during the new moon. But no one knows who or what worships there.
