Plant propagation

in GEMS2 months ago (edited)

Hello everyone, today I am here to share a little of my experience with plants. And today I want to share about propagation because I am in the process of propagating one of my plants.

Several months ago I had successfully transplanted two plants that had come from my mother plant, but these two plants happened to already have roots so it made everything easier for me, I simply separated them and put each one in a different pot but now the same thing happened again, the difference is that these had not yet managed to develop roots and were already very large, I was afraid that the nutrients that the mother plant should receive, these two were absorbing them, so I proceeded to remove both plants. One of them had a small root.

This plant, which has the scientific name dieffenbachia, is not really that difficult to propagate. I did some research and there were two options: placing them directly in soil or in water and waiting until they have enough roots to transplant them.

And that is exactly what I did. I placed them in water and in fact I made everything look very aesthetic, although I changed the water every 2 or 3 days at most with clean, fresh water.

I think that this propagation process with this plant will be slow but effective, it has been 18 days and I have already been able to see the emergence of new roots in one of the plants, this was the largest one.

Unlike this one, you can see that it is just starting to grow a root.

The surprising thing about these roots is that they look quite big and strong. I would say that propagation in water is more controlled because it allows you to observe the growth of the plant's roots, how it is developing and the state of the plant itself. I previously had a rose branch propagated in water and it went wonderfully, when I thought it was perfect to move it to soil, it died shortly after so I could think that it was not ready yet. This fact made me explore the idea of growing some plants in water, I have investigated and many of the plants that I have in my apartment can adapt to water by creating new roots. Although it may seem strange, having plants in water makes me pay even more attention to them because I have to monitor them every 2 days because the disadvantage is that a fungus will grow if you neglect it for a week.

So you have successfully propagated money plant hehe we call it with this name and it's my grandmother's favourite plant. As she considers it associated with wealth, well the procedure you adopted went very well. Few plants only require root propagation and few need the shoot to be cut off in order to get the node propagation just in case of Rosa indica (commonly known as rose plant)

Oh here we also have a plant called money plant but it looks different because it is a small plant with quite small but abundant leaves, in fact when I was in a nursery I was considering taking that plant home but first I need to organize my life, lol.
