@ihealyou is a recovery bot that was coded voluntarily by a member of the SBI community. It upvotes posts with the same percentage that they were downvoted by the attacker. It first checks that the author is an SBI member and is not included on any community blacklist.
Since the attacker only uses their free DV power, following @ihealyou trail would only use a small percentage of your VP, and usually in bursts. It is recommended to follow instead of delegate, since that same logic means that the lead account will be at full VP 75% of the time.
We believe the SBI (now Hive SBI) has a proven track record of boosting retention and supporting the community. We follow @buildawhale and @hivewatchers blacklists, along with keeping an internal list to deal with #abuse-reports that are brought into our Discord server.
I delegated and am on the trail as I believe it is important we keep users instead of chasing them away. SBI/HBI was a perfect tool for keeping new users as they were guaranteed a vote no matter what happens. This kept me going right in the beginning and it is that important.
When the DV attacks against SBI first started on Steem after HF21, I very seriously considered wrapping up the project and issuing refunds to everyone. However, I heard hundreds of testimonials along the lines of 'I only stayed active the last xx period because of regular SBI support'.
When Hive forked from Steem, we did not think it was right to abandon our community. We migrated to Hive and shared our airdrop with our members in the form of Hive SBI memberships, even though our original terms never said anything about supporting any forks.
During this nascent period where many people are still making decisions about which blockchain will be the most receptive to their work, we think it especially important for community members to find Hive even more receptive than Steem.
SBI/HBI in my opinion is the most powerful tool we have for keeping new accounts on here. I remember some days the only votes I received were from SBI. One would be a fool to get rid of your strongest weapon. This needs to go higher than you and me and seriously the community needs to vote on this. Simple decision as that is the only way.
He catches a lot of abuse categories that hivewatchers don't catch. I admit there are more 'false positives' on his list, but we also offer a review process and can override the result and still deliver votes if a Hive SBI member brings an appeal to me.
