Me and Aimee went up to Comic Con today in Dublin, and it was a lot of fun. Browsing around for a good while, I was unsure of what to buy until I saw a couple of things.
I saw a bunch of Star Wars figures, and this is one that stood out to me.
I have wanted to buy a 6" Scout Trooper for a while, as it's one of my favorite Stormtroopers. When I saw the price of only €15, I figured it was a fairly decent deal.
Since it was fairly cheap, I don't really mind opening this one up. But, I'll be doing so carefully so I can keep the box in good condition.
This is a game I've wanted to play again for a long time.
Dynasty Warriors 4 was my first entry into the series, and it opened me up to what would become a story that stuck with me over the years and a franchise of games that I would love for a long time to come.
It is a hack and slash, one vs one thousand type game set in the three kingdoms period of Chinese history, where the Han empire fell and warlords came to prominence, at first, fighting to restore the Han, and then fighting to rule.
I have played - pretty much - every iteration of this game, which basically tells the same story but with an expanding cast of characters.
As far as I'm concerned - and this could be nostalgia talking - this is the best game in the entire series.
Sure, the later instalments added to the gameplay, increased the number of people on screen, added new weapons and styles of combat and upgraded the graphics. But this one is where they were at the top of their game.
There were storylines and characters in this game which never seemed to reappear, and also, the weapons used felt more grounded in this game as opposed to later entries where the weaponry got kind of comical in the anime sense. Over-sized and cartoonish weapons helped in making it "fun" I suppose, but killed the historical accuracy and kind of forced the series down a wacky path.
In saying that, the game was always a bit wacky, but it seems more so now.
