I arrived at the Doyang (gymnasium) about an hour before the start of the event to finish the preparations and to be assigned the responsibilities that I would have to fulfill during the event, which turned out to be referee of the bouts and judge of the poomsae (figure) competition. For this event we were expecting several invited schools from all over the state, which brought their athletes of all ages, in order to celebrate these 40 years with us, and so at 8:30 AM the event began, welcoming all those present.
Llegue al Doyang (gimnasio) aproximadamente una hora antes del inicio del evento para terminar los preparativos y que se me asignaran las responsabilidades que tendría que cumplir durante el evento, las cuales resultaron ser árbitro de los combates y juez de la competencia de poomsae (figura). Para este evento se esperaba a varias escuelas invitadas de todo el estado, las cuales llevaron a sus atletas de todas las edades, con el fin de celebrar estos 40 años con nosotros, y así a las 8:30 AM se inició el evento, dando la bienvenida a todos los presentes.
Soon they began to prepare the youngest athletes of infantile category for their combats, which soon began with a great sportsmanship.
Pronto se comenzó a preparar los atletas más jóvenes de categoría infantil para sus combates, los cuales iniciaron pronto con un gran espíritu deportivo.

As always, my parents accompanied me, because Taekwondo and the Palo Negro Club were also part of their lives.

My Father met again with his Sabonim and founder of the school, Master Juan Espocito.

And my Sabonim met again with his old friend, who entrusted him with his school to keep Taekwondo alive here in Palo Negro.
Y mi Sabonim se encontró de nuevo con su viejo amigo, quien le encomendó su escuela para que el Taekwondo siguiera vigente aquí en Palo Negro.
Moments of memories provoked by the reunions, and the laughter when remembering what we have shared during all these years, which at least for me, have been 20.
Momentos de recuerdos provocados por los reencuentros, y las risas al recordar lo compartido durante todos estos años, que al menos para mí, han sido 20.
Finally, I want to share with you this photo, where there are only a few, who during these 40 years managed to reach the grade of black belt in the school. Some of them are my heroes and like my older brothers, others come after me, and still have a way to go. You can leave Taekwondo, but Taekwondo will never leave you.
Por ultimo, quiero compartirles esta foto, donde se encuentran solo algunos, que durante estos 40 años lograron alcanzar el grado de cinturon negro en la escuela. Algunos son mis heroes y como mis hermanos mayores, otros vienen detras de mí, y aun tienen un camino que recorrer. Puedes irte del Taekwondo, pero el Taekwondo nunca se irá de ti.
I remember the days when I was a child learning Taekwondo as my parents believed it was part of learning my heritage culture as a Korean. I thought at first it was all about fighting however it was the first time where I really understood what discipline meant for the first time. Great for mind and body~ :) great post.
