Hey I hope all of you are doing well, and I thank all of you for the amazing amount of support on my introdution post, in this post I want to give something back to the people joining this amazing community😄

I wanted to write this guide for all of the people that are brand new to Hive and were wondering how to create an account the easiest way and start posting to hive as fast as possible

I will be writing a couple of other tutorials explaining how the Hive eco system works and the easiest way I've found to acquire Hive as soon as possible, and I will be adding the link to this post as I come up with them.

So without further ado let's get right in to the tutorial.

Step 1: Open up hive.blog

Step 2: Click on the sign up button located on the top right hand corner of the page

Step 3: Choose option of choice, I chose hiveonboard because you can gain access to all of the Hive blockchain resources including the Hive wallet which for some reason costs e1.5 if you choose the hive wallet option

Step 4: Install the Hive keychain by going to this link Here or clicking on the keychain icon on screen, we will come back to how it is used later.

Step 5: Enter your referrers account ID in the designated box, if you haven't yet made an account please use my referrer ID
which is: Lildolphin

Step 6: Download a backup of your Hive passwords, as you will need them later
you will have a bunch of different keys but we will only be using one of them with keychain.

then click on the tick box that says:

I (the soon to be owner of lildolphin) declare that I understand the requirement of safely securing these private keys. I understand that neither HiveOnboard nor any other entity on this planet is capable of restoring or changing these keys if lost. Meaning I really did save these keys in a safe location that I will be able to find later.

Click on create hive account

Step 7: Enter your phone number (remember to choose the area code). And then enter the code received on your phone to go onto the next step

If you have followed all of the steps congratulations!🎉🎉

You will now see a welcome message and a screen showing you the different communities you can go and check out.

Now we will set up keychain in order to make signing in easier
Setting up Keychain.

Keychain setup

Keychain is a plugin used for storing your different hive accounts and broadcasting transactions to the blockchain. Let's add this hive account to the keychain to make logging in easier.

Step 1: We added the keychain earlier on in the tutorial. Now you need to click on the puzzle icon in the top right hand corner of the screen, and then click on hive keychain

Step 2: Keychain will ask you to input a password.

The password will need to be at least 8 characters long using at least one capital letter. This password will give you access to all the accounts stored within your keychain extension

Step 3: Choose the use keys/pwd option in the keychain plugin and enter your hive username and the password that you downloaded in step 6 part 1.

This password will be noted in the backup text document you downloaded after “password:” the password itself is a long string of characters.

Step 4: Logout before you leave :P
