We are used to not going out or going on adventures when there is not a sunny day. I understand when you are in a country like Guatemala where almost all year round you have good weather; that's why they call it the country of eternal spring, always green and fertile.
Estamos acostumbrados a no salir o ir de aventura cuando no hay un día asoleado. Entiendo cuando estás en un país como Guatemala en el que casi todo el año tienes buen clima; por eso le dicen el pais de la eterna primavera, siempre verde y fértil.
But living in Mallorca, where there are 4 seasons, without going to the extreme cold in winter, most of the locals do not like to go out to explore the island; however, the Germans, English who come from colder places, love to go on adventures, they even sunbathe on the beach.
Pero viviendo en Mallorca, donde si existen las 4 estaciones del año, sin ir al frío extremo en Invierno, a la mayoría de los locales no les gusta salir a explorar la isla; sin embargo, los alemanes, ingleses que vienen de lugares más fríos, les encanta ir de aventura, incluso se asolean en la playa.
Behind all these excuses that we make about it being cold, cloudy or windy, there is that discomfort of going out of your comfort zone. It is easier and more comfortable to watch TV with a slice of your favorite pizza that you didn't even set foot out of the house to buy it.
Detrás de todas estas escusas que ponemos de que si hay frio, si está nublado o hay mucho viento, existe esa incomodidad de salir de tu zona de confort. Es más fácil y se siente uno más a gusto viendo televisión con un pedazo de tu pizza preferida que ni siquiera pusiste un pie de casa para comprarla.
It is easier to excuse yourself, watching the window with the cloudy sky while you feel the melted cheese melting in your mouth at the same time you are thinking, what a bad time they must be having out there, with how comfortable we are here.
Es más fácil excusarte, viendo la ventana con el cielo nublado mientras sientes el queso derretido deshacerse en tu boca al mismo tiempo que estás pensado, que mal la deben estar pasando allí afuera, con lo cómodo que estamos aquí.
But the reality is, there are thousands of reasons to say why you don't want adventure in your life, it's easier to keep doing what you're already doing, even if you know it's not going to get you anywhere than to take that step to where you know you need to go.
Pero la realidad es que, razones para decir porque no quieres aventura en tu vida existen miles, es más fácil seguir haciendo lo que ya haces, aunque sepas que no te va a llevar a ningún lado que dar ese paso hacia donde sabes que debes ir.
So the next time you are thinking of going on an adventure, but your subconscious decides that it is better to sit and forget than to try, remind yourself that the uncomfortable thing to do is to put your foot out the door, because the cold as the Scandinavians say only exists for the one who dresses wrong for the occasion.
Así que la próxima vez que pienses ir de aventura, pero tu subconsciente decida que es mejor sentarte y olvidar que intentarlo, recuérdate que lo incómodo es poner el pie fuera de la puerta, porque el fría como dicen los Escandinavos solo existe para el que se viste mal para la ocasión.
