Western Shores — Another Playtest Done

Manol Donchev here with another update on the progress of the Western Shores board game project. A setting where you, as Viking leaders, brave the unknown on a quest for glory.

We had an almost random playtest the other day, a nice game with two players only.

By default, the game can be played by 2, 3, or 4 people. So far we've limited the number of rounds to 12 which can be split in 2, 3, and 4, giving each player an equal number of rounds to go first on un case of rotation in terms of who goes first.

The deck of cards to be drafted lasts for 9 rounds and the last three are just the end-game where people can play all that remains of the cards they have drafted up until that moment.

The thing is... it turned out that with two players, everything can be played before the 12th round.

Well, we ended up reaching something like 114 to 108 Glory points at the end of the game which is probably near the optimal score. We expect lower results in a 4-player game where competition for the best cards should kick in.

The new concept

We most likely need some end-game goodies — cards or tokens to be bought after the players have depleted their own decks. Something not draftable but just sitting there, waiting. Such as temples to be built. Unlocked first? Sure, that seems like a good way to make players choose certain paths.

I have previously created the @thewesternshores account so that we can crowdfund the project on the Hive blockchain. Well, partially funded is still partially funded, so we're giving it a go!
