Trato Descriminatorio y Xenofobia / Discriminatory Treatment and Xenophobia
La migración venezolana ha llevado a otras latitudes las costumbres y tradiciones propias de su idiosincrasia; por esa razón, vemos hábitos arraigados en la actitud de muchos compatriotas; en lo culinario, por ejemplo, observamos que las arepas han llegado a lugares remotos y en algunos casos han desplazado comidas típicas de otros países.
Venezuelan migration has brought its own customs and traditions to other latitudes; for this reason, we see habits rooted in the attitude of many compatriots; in the culinary field, for example, we observe that arepas have reached remote places and in some cases have displaced typical foods from other countries.
En muchas naciones no comprenden lo que para nosotros es básico como tratar con cariño a las personas; decirle mi amor a una persona que no sea venezolana es provocar en ella una reacción distinta al mero saludo cariñoso.
In many countries, they do not understand what is basic for us, such as treating people with affection; saying "I love you" to a person who is not Venezuelan is to provoke a reaction in them that is different from a mere affectionate greeting.
Otro ejemplo tiene que ver con nuestros músicos, quienes están ocupando sitiales de honor en el ámbito cultural de otras naciones. También se han ido con la migración costumbres donde la cortesía, el respeto, decoro y buena educación se manifiestan en cosas tan sencillas como saludar, dar los buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches... Además, creencias y ritos religiosos que son comunes en los venezolanos como la costumbre de pedir la bendición; rito de fe que está escrito en nuestro libro sagrado, la Biblia:
“Que el Señor te bendiga y te proteja. Que el Señor sonría sobre ti y sea compasivo contigo. Que el Señor te muestre su favor y te dé su paz”.
(Números 6:24-26)
Another example has to do with our musicians, who are occupying places of honor in the cultural sphere of other nations. Customs where courtesy, respect, decorum and good manners are manifested in things as simple as greeting, saying good morning, good afternoon, good night... have also gone with migration. In addition, religious beliefs and rites that are common among Venezuelans such as the custom of asking for a blessing; a rite of faith that is written in our sacred book, the Bible:
“May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.”
(Numbers 6:24-26)
Lo cierto es que nuestra migración, en su mayoría, está conformada por ciudadanos de bien, gente educada, decente, preparada, excelentes profesionales y técnicos capacitados que solo van buscando mejorar su calidad de vida y la de sus seres queridos; de tal manera que estigmatizar a los venezolanos por culpa de una minoría, que salió a delinquir o a portarse mal, reflejando actitudes contrarias a la moral, al respeto y a las buenas costumbres, es egoísta y descriminatorio.
The truth is that our migration, for the most part, is made up of good citizens, educated, decent, prepared people, excellent professionals and trained technicians who only seek to improve their quality of life and that of their loved ones; in such a way that stigmatizing Venezuelans, because a minority went out to commit crimes or behave badly, reflecting attitudes contrary to morality, respect and good customs, is selfish and discriminatory.
Los venezolanos buenos somos más; además, siempre hemos acogido con respeto migraciones de otros países y los hemos incorporado con beneplácito a nuestra nación. El venezolano decente jamás mostró xenofobia ni discriminó a ningún ser humano. En Venezuela todos somos ciudadanos e iguales ante la ley.
There are more of us good Venezuelans; in addition, we have always welcomed migrations from other countries with respect and have welcomed them into our nation. Decent Venezuelans have never shown xenophobia or discriminated against any human being. In Venezuela, we are all citizens and equal before the law.
Por lo anterior expuesto hago un llamado a la tolerancia y al buen trato para los venezolanos buenos.
For the above reasons, I call for tolerance and good treatment for good Venezuelans.
