The Water Was Kind To Me ; A Diary Of My Swimming Journey (Part 1)

Looking back to when I was younger, I wasn't a great runner (to be precise, I sucked at it). I always had two options, to either come last or win the last person. I was that bad. I tried football too but it was a tragedy, I dribbled myself a couple times, scored own goal a couple times, passed to opponent quite alot of times. It obviously wasn't my calling.

About running, I think the day I gave up on running was at my Alma mater's old students race. When they announced the race, "Something" told me to respect myself, sit down and just watch the people born for running to run but I had another feeling. A feeling that things may have changed and I may just be the next Bolt out here. I was wrong!!!

It felt like everyone else was actually running and I was taking a walk. Yeah, I said "everyone" cos I could see all of them in my front. I was last again.Yeah, I didn't understand the assignment.😂

Swimming however seemed just right. Being in a calm and quiet environment doing your thing at your own pace (except during trainings) was just what I needed. I also loved the idea that it wasn't something every Tom, Dick and Harry could do in just a few trials. I had my share of near death experiences too but yeah, it was worth it.

Volleyball came some years later after swimming and the gym improved my arm power. I could play volleyball from morning till night and both are currently my favorite sports.
