AKO, The Rottie
This is a pencil sketch I made of Ako , a couple of weeks after we put him to sleep forever. Ako was a 13 week-old pup when we got him from a farmer breeder in Mank, Lower Austria. He did not undergo a dog training in dog school for we trained him ourselves. The first two year had been wild because he only wanted to play.
We brought him along to Cyprus when he was two year old and on the last day of our stay there, he jumped out of the car window and chased a herd of sheeps that were roaming around near the ancient town that was being excavated.. Oh my (!) I was thinking that Ako will be put to sleep the moment any of the sheep was hurt. Thank God , he listened to us and just about in a meter face to face distance with a sheep, he stopped and turned his head towards us.... then he came back and got inside the car. I think that he wanted to convey to the sheeps that he was the boss there, Lol!
That was a memory I and hubbz will never forget.... never! Ako had a hip displacie, a common ailment in big dog´s hips that caused him so much pain. And he surely had so much pain for three days that he didn´t eat nor drink... so we called the vet and put him to sleep forever at age 14. We suffered a big big loss, he was such a nice dog and he didn´t create any problem whatsoever. When we travelled, he travelled too either by plane or car. When I was ill and having 40°C fever, he jumped into my bed and comforted me by licking my face and sat beside me sort of like guarding me... He was my most loyal friend and we miss him a lot!
