Reflecting on Mythical Creatures in My Locality

in GEMS3 hours ago (edited)

Legends and historical stories have it that so many mythical creatures existed in Africa before modernization. I remember when I was young my mom told stories of how several Nigeria myths and the ones she had seen before when she was young, sometimes I find it hard to believe this but most times when I travel to a car local place I still hear the same story or similar, which means there might be a truth behind it.

One Mythical creature I have always heard about and watched Yoruba movies to see how this creatures behave is a Bush animal that turns into Human, real-life human being. So many Yoruba movies have talked about how a hunter fell in love with a woman he met deep inside the bush that could not talk, and how he got her pregnant and she gave birth to him, a half baby and half beast. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that there is an animal that turns into a human.

I have heard of so many stories about men and women that turn into animals in the bush and also turn back to humans but based on reality it seems very impossible trust me Africa is a place of so many I Possibly experiences. Some myth even talks about human flying, but I have not experienced anyone and I am still yet to witness one.

In some stories or movies, I hear of how trees bring out humans or how humans come out of trees, it's so weird to believe this kind of experience when there is a lot to disprove about this. But I know black magic truly exists.

Another Mythical creature that is very popular in my country is the Mermaid. I heard mermaids come out during festivals and they also dance with humans during this festival, myths talk about their bodies shining and glowing, and how beautiful they are. I remember the story of how they said they stopped coming out during festivals when they saw the white men want to take them away from the water instead they brought out a statue as proof of approved festival.

I would love to see a mermaid, so many countries talk about them and how beautiful they are but I haven't seen anyone. Based on my religion we often rebuke them away because we believe they are evil creatures. Disney made me love mermaids, and how movies describe them to be beautiful.

So many Mythical creatures exist in my country but I have still yet to see one, most people living in the village experience this and are always scared to touch these kinds of creatures because they fear death, and they are often found deep inside the bush or deep inside the water.

I love fantasy I wish there was a tourism center for different countries' mythical creatures I would love to see nature and how wonderful it is.
