It breaks my heart to hear what some children have to go through. I had a few friends that was part of the foster care system in South Africa, and some of them stayed in the system until they were 18 (in SA you are seen as an adult at 18 and have no need to be in the system anymore). The stories they told were always more on the bad side. I have a close friend, al 5 of them ended in the system at different times. By the time he was 18 he saved enough (with the help of otherd around), to buy a house. He was able to foster 2 of his siblings. They stayed with him until they were finished with school last year. Lucky the other 2 youngsters was place with a loving family, that is still taking care of them.
Thank you for not only opening your house, but your heart for these children.
Same here... 18 years. Although here they can enter a further program if they want. Many choose not to and get out of the system.
