The Green Darner is a type of dragonfly found somewhat commonly in Alberta; they are one of the largest dragonfly species you can find. They will spend their summers here but have seen as far south as Panama in the winter, where they often migrate. Random individual Green Darners have even been seen in places like Japan, Russia, France, and Bermuda. They can travel far if they want to.
This migration can actually take place over three generations and has been shown to be fairly complex. At times researchers have been able to equip them with radio transmitters, and it was found that they travel up to 10 miles per hour and can cover as much as 87 miles in a single day.
