Hello Hiveians
- Here is my simple illustration on how to make a surplice or wrap over dress as it is simply called.
The surplice is a term for an overlapping two front bodice from one end to another.
- In making this, i usually first create a back bodice pattern as this
Paper or fabric must be on fold and the neckiline is 1.5 inches depth by 3.5 inches width, the waist, shoulder and bust as seen.
- Next i create a complete front bodice as this
The neck depth here is 3 and width is 3.5 inches
A manipulation on the front bodice
is used to achieve the wrap, this is how i do mine.
I open up the front bodice i created above and then move up by 2 inches above the half length at one end and this is then conncected to the nect at the other end as seen above.
Below is the final result.
This is then cut twice and used to overlap each other.
Once this is completed i can chose to use any style complete the half dress length above, a fitted or gathered full down part.
Nice one
Thanks for sharing the process
Am glad you like it
