Sewing the cuffing for a sleeve shirt

in GEMS4 years ago

Hello Hiveians and needleworkers

My skill can only get better
I am making pretty progress at learning male fashion.
It is not just about sewing the styles but the ability to make neat stitches and finishing.
So I decided to learn bits of everything and take it little at a time.
I got some fabric pieces at the store and decided to sew a sleeve and its cuffing.
There was some progress though I made some silly mistakes.
My boss put me through the details while I cut and sew.

Here is one made by my boss here while I attempted making another here.

What went wrong with this was the facing for the slit which wasn't straightend up properly and pointed to another direction.
I was told that it was because I dragged the fabric while sewing instead of allowing it to flow with the direction and movements of the machine.

I started with cutting the sleeve and cuff using the round sleeve circumference

A collar stay was added to the cuff using steam iron

Next was the slit for the cuff

The final part was where I got to stitch all pieces together.
I made a slit at a 3inchs position at the sleeve base and here was how it looked like.

All pieces joined together and my cuff was ready.

Next cuff I make has to come pretty well.
There are various kind of cuff, one with button and others with holes and loop, depends on what we are designing per time.

Thank you for taking out time to check this post.
