Hi Hiveians
- I have woken up sound and healthy to the light of a new day and my the peaceful sleep i had i owe it to a man who came around yesterday to fix my windows nets and to secure our house from mosquitoes. These tiny devils would give so much noise and bites that will make you hate ever trying to sleep.
Malaria is a very common if not the most prevailent sickness in Nigeria due to the climate and favorable breeding ground available for different species of mosquito, there are bushes, trash and poor waste disposal that also help with creating more breeding site.
On the average i get sick from malaria like twice every 3 month and so do most people here, except for those who use mosquito net or insecticide or which after killing the ones in the house, others will rush in at the slightest chance of door opening.
Now here is an older man who has acquired a carpentry skill and used that as a mean of livelihood ever since his youth, he is so strong even at this age and very much deligent in doing his job.
Here he constructed us a simple vegetables garden to keep off animals and chickens that we can be able to have handy vegetables at home.
Lesson i learnt from his life and important of skill acquisition.
- The government job we seek do not stay with us forever, but the skill we acquire and the knowledge we have goes with us even to the grave, he may have had a job with the government before, but that cannot help him anymore, but this skill with the strength in his arms wilk feed him untill all his hair are grey.
Government jobs may have limitations and he can be tied to doing thesame activity everyday but with skill, he can explore different field base on his talents, this gives the mind wild imaginations and ability to be creative and more resourceful.
With skill, his salary is ever continious and he got paid a handsome token yesterday, but with government job he is tied to a fixed salary all his life that will never be enough to meet his needs.
