All that glitters is not gold

Have you heard that phrase before? It is a popular saying. But I have come to understand it more now that I am in the situation where I have to wear a sunshade to protect my red eye. My travel to Abia State this day of this diary was to meet up with the appointment I had booked with my doctor who has been treating my eye problem.

It's been 3 weeks now that I have been dealing with the pain after a minor surgery on the eye. An inflammation in the eye had caused the eye to have a growth the protrudes to the outside of the eye lashes. But before I proceed, let me begin with the morning hours.

Morning hours

I woke up by 3am as always this days to check on notifications in my personal account and steemkids community account. After attending to all I had to say my personal prayers before the family had theirs.

I did my personal hygiene when it was 7am and got ready to leave the house but I had started writing my greeter's report which I needed to complete. I sat and completed it. The kids had already been Assisted to get ready and they left for school.

Then I started on my journey by 8am to the park to board a vehicle going to Abia State. It was a Friday and I had an appointment to see my doctor. Along the way, I received a call from my printer that the job I gave him is completed. This means that I had to deliver it before going to see the doctor. Thankfully, everything just happened at the right time.

On getting to the park here in my city, I took the selfie which is at the thumb bell section of this publication. Wait a minute, how do I look on that sunshade? Gorgeous 😍😍😍😍! Not so? Hmmmmm, but how is the eye behind it? Red. Yes, that is how it is. See the real eye below and of course that is what is taking me to see the doctor

You can see that growth on my right eye. That is what is what I had covered with that google and I look so pretty as if everything was fine. I was admired along the way by those I saw and knew, we exchanged pleasantries. They were glad to see that I was doing great with hoe they saw I looked. Enough!

On getting to Aba by 11:57am, I went straight to the printing press, carried the 2000 pieces of the branded shopping bags and delivered to the driver that will take it down to Port Harcourt, the capital city of Rivers State. That is where my client is. As soon as I dropped them, I called my client and told him that I had delivered them. He was happy about that.

Afternoon Hours

I then went to the hospital to meet the doctor. I was late no doubt but the doctor had assured me that he will attend to me. I got there by 1:30am and the gall was filled up with patients both old and new as you can see in the picture below

As soon as got to the hospital, I called the doctor to notify him that I was around but he had to reduce the crowd first. He started attending to the patients by 12noon. A lot of patients with similar to different eye challenges.

I observed the doctor as he was kindly and patiently attending to them all. He performed 2 minor eye surgery in my presence. When it was 3:15pm, he invited me over, applied a drug in my eye with the string. I asked him what that was for he said it was to reduce the pain when he will finally cut off the growth.

After a little while, he came back and cut off the growth from my eye, it was painful though but I had to endure it. He gave me what he cut off, applied medication on it and gave me the drugs to take.

I waited a while there to regain my strength before getting up. When the pain subsided, I took a picture of the red eye and wore my sunshade again

You can see the eye, the growth is cut off and I pray nothing brings me back for this type of experience. I believe this will be the last and I will regain my eye again. I believe it will be fine, afterall it was the 2 eyes that were treated 3 weeks ago and the left side of the eye is perfectly ok.

Evening hours

I left the hospital by 4:20pm and boarded a vehicle. I became very hungry while waiting for the vehicle to be fully loaded. I saw a woman selling Okpa. Okpa is a delicacy mostly enjoyed by the easterners here in Nigeria and it is made with a special kind of beans called Bambara nut/beans (Vorandzeia subterranean). I have never prepared it before but I like the taste and it is usually irresistible whenever I see it. I enjoyed it with a bottle of plastic Mirinda inside the vehicle. See the picture below

We later left the park by 5:15pm and the road was free and smooth. It was a successful journey. I got home by 7pm to meet my family eagerly awaiting my return.

I will not stop without telling you about the mushroom I bought on my way back. I saw it on my way to Abia but couldn't buy it then. This spacie of mushroom is very sweet when added to okra soup, Uha soup or in fact, anything at all as you desire. I bought this quantity with 2 hive.

But you will need to wash it very well because of sand. This specie is usually in abundant at the beginning of farming season.

I took my dinner, my drugs, my shower and wrote two publications before closing my eyes. Despite my eye condition, I still find myself taking care of my duties in steemit. Am I addicted to steemit? What do you think? Well, I am grateful to the most high for the strength and abilities to carry my duties out. Thank you all for reading through.
