Almost Halloween Time!
In @little-ricky's short three years of life, he has already somehow become completely obsessed with Halloween and everything related to it. He gets extremely excited when all of the decorations go up and the stores begin to stock pumpkins, skeletons, costumes and basically any and all decorations.
We have brought him here each year, and he has really had a blast... Well, except for the first year when he was just a few months old and had no idea what was going on. But this time he really lost his mind! These things are a lot of fun when you have a little toddler.
The pumpkin patch opens up at around the first of October, and remains open through Halloween. They have farm animals, a huge variety of normal and gnarly looking pumpkins as well as some great bouncy castles and inflatable slides to play on.
One of the fun things about having a small child is that you kind of get to let loose a little and climb around on the kids toys without looking too much like a weirdo. When you have a kid, it makes you look like a good parent.. Otherwise, you just seem like you have mental issues.
@little-ricky really loves taking care of the animals. But this year, he got a bit frustrated because they added wire fencing to the lower part of the wooden fence. He couldn't squeeze his hand through it to give the animals food, and he's too short to reach over the top. I guess they didn't really think it through this year, but I get why they did it. Last year, some of the animals managed to escape through the gaps in the fence boards, so they had to make it more secure.
This green pumpkin was most likely my top pick. I'm not well-versed in pumpkin types, so I can't distinguish whether they belong to distinct species or are just different versions of the same kind. Regardless, they're quite a sight to behold.
It's as if these shouldn't be purchased unless you can truly create a masterpiece with them. Maybe I'm just being overly sentimental. Yet, I suppose they'd be equally attractive adorning the porch in their natural state. Nature certainly has a knack for crafting truly exquisite works of art.
Given that the pumpkin patch is just a block away from Ricky's daycare, I plan to bring him there at least twice a week while it's open. Every time we pass by, he's begging to go in. It's truly a relief to find an activity that can keep a child's attention for a couple of hours, especially considering how restless he can be at home.
I take all of the wins that I can get!
Lol. It was the last line for me!
Kids are really fun when they find something that catches their fancy. Those pumpkins look gorgeous and I can't wait to see what many of my friends out here create with them.
We don't celebrate Halloween over here so it's just as well that I feast on them virtually instead.
It's easy to forget sometimes that not everyone in the world celebrates the same holidays. It must seem like a really strange holiday to you. Haha! I can imagine. Thanks for stopping in.
The last one pumpkin looks like aliens grew up it🙃
And in my case some pumpkins were growing almost on the trees
I am sad to say that I don't think I've ever actually seen a pumpkin growing in real life. You could literally show me pumpkins growing on the tops of trees and I'd be like, OK. haha. It's kind of wild that such heavy gourds can grow off of the ground like that.
This is so hilarious.
Kids are a gift from God and yes that's the fun of parenting.
This kid makes me laugh so much every day. Yesterday we were at the store, and there were costumes everywhere. Ricky looks at me and says, "Daddy. So many skinninins (skeletons). Amazing!!!"
I don't know where he gets some of these words. lol
Hahaha, that's exactly what my niece does, and I love being around her because she makes me really happy.
If he's having fun, you can bring him here a lot, man. Little Ricky looks ready to dive into the pumpkin world.
He would live there if I let him. Last night we went down and let him get on the bouncy castle, but he created a traffic jam and I had to crawl in and drag him out. haha! Already causing trouble.
Having kids and taking care of them is lovely and important to show one really loves them and care without having any choice since it is a responsibility to do so.
It's so hard yet so rewarding. I don't know if I could have handled it when I was much younger. You have to really relax into it and not freak out too much. Thanks for the comment!
As long as you had a blast bud!!
It's almost Halloween time again right? Or do I have my dates mixed up 😂🦇
Yeah, Halloween is coming very soon! They always set up the pumpkins during the entire month. This particular farm also sets up and sells trees during December.
My wife isn't really a fan of Halloween, but this year she actually mentioned that maybe we should get some pumpkins to carve. I haven't done that since I was a kid I don't think. Once we have our anniversary out of the way maybe we will pick a couple up. They don't seem to last very long. Plus you have to worry about hoodlums smashing them and stuff! It's awesome that he is enjoying his time here. Also cool that it is so close so he can visit so frequently!
I don't blame your wife for not being into Halloween. Personally, I am not a fan of the big holidays in general, but I am starting to warm up a bit since having Ricky.
Oh yeah, for sure. We keep ours up on the balcony so no one can get to it, thankfully. The worst thing about the kids around here on Halloween is during trick-or-treating. We have a problem with way too old kids (clearly over 16) pushing small children out of the way and taking all of the candy. I don't know what is wrong with these kids.
Oh yeah, that is just horrible about the kids. We don't even turn our light on most years. I am surprised we don't get egged. I think my wife's big issue is the fact that she scares easy, so she doesn't like all the masks and weird faces and stuff like that.
Sometimes I usually use to wonder how it will feel like to be a parent. I mean to cater for kids your own kids
It can be extremely stressful, especially if you have a wild child like mine. I always look at other people's kids and think, "Wow! That kid is so calm."
But he is definitely our child. haha! It has its amazing and miserable moments. But I wouldn't trade it for anything.
😂 probably he might have took that personality also from one of his parent whether mother or father
haha exactly! I want my kids to de-age back to toddlers so I can make this excuse again.
The pumpkin patch is always fun. Glad to hear he had a good time!
I think it's been one of my favorite thing about having a little one. I am desperately trying to get in better shape as well. I am absolutely not going to be able to keep up with him in a couple of years!
Well, they look huge.
There are some MASSIVE pumpkins this year!
Yeah I can see that, really great.
whoa.. so many pumpkins. Looks like you are planning something big for Halloween.
Apart from the post topic, I just saw that you are a witness now. You have got my vote ser @nuthman
Well, I don't think I will personally buy one this year. We mostly go to the patch so that Ricky can play with the animals and get in the bouncy castles. We bought such a big pumpkin last year that I still have giant ziplock baggies of pumpkin in the freezer.
I will definitely be making pumpkin pie and soup this year!
Glad to know your little kids is enjoying with you on the fields. I have never seen this big pumpkins in my life. I always though all the big pumpkins we see on the TV or internet are camera work.
I saw a guy buy the biggest pumpkin I have ever seen from this place. It took 3 people to load it into his pickup truck. I don't know what someone does with a pumpkin that large. haha!
They may cook it.
Wow that brings back memories! Going to the pumpkin patches and Halloween decorations and costumes. I miss having kids that age around, they are so much fun! That's great the pumpkin patch is on the way home, sounds like he loves it there. Enjoy it, because in the blink of an eye he'll be a teenager...
@bozz mentioned you threw your hat in the ring as a witness, so I gave you a vote! I hope you pick up some more this week as well, good luck!
I know, it's nuts how quickly he is growing. We were looking at photos from last year and the year before at the same pumpkin patch. He barely looks like the same person. I already miss my tiny baby!!!
Thanks a ton for the witness vote, by the way. It is becoming clear that it will be a daunting task to make this witness server pay for itself. @bozz has been amazing with his support and he's definitely gotten a few people to vote for me already.
Enjoy the ride of parenthood, it's a lot of fun! I'll see if I can steer some people your way as well. I've only been here since maybe Feb. so I'm not quite as connected as @bozz quite yet!
It doesn't happen overnight, trust me!
OMG. that blue pumpkin is amazing! It looks like it has little snowflake designs on it! I've never seen anything like it! 😮
Isn't that wild? I was staring at that one for a while. It doesn't look real somehow...
This made me chuckle. It's a shame we don't have grown up playgrounds. I would definitely be interested in that.
Haha yeah, you and me both. Part of the reason that I don't get enough exercise is that most physical things that are age appropriate are boring to me.
I'm at that point as well. There are group sports that I could participate in but being in my 40's, I am not going to consider it to be fun when these dudes are running circles around me and congratulating me for not having a heart attack. These days most of my exercise is weights and just long walks on the beach. I suppose that is enough
Little Ricky seems to be enjoying there in between the pumpkins. Let him enjoy the childhood as these days of the age will not return.
Very true! It is going by so fast now already.
