Let me start off this post by saying I am not the kind of person to tell other people how to act, or how to feel. I am the first to admit I don't have all the answers and I personally strive everyday to keep my demons at bay, just like most everyone does. However as I get older, I like to think that I am slowly, ever so slowly maturing. In my younger days, my temper had a hair trigger. Even now with nearly 60 years on this Earth I can get downright ornery at times. Yet today I am choosing gratitude.
I am in a warm, dry house in a relatively safe neighborhood, and my only issue is of the first world variety. You see, for the past 24 hours or so, we have had a tremendous ice storm here in Virginia. The power is currently still on, but it has been flickering on and off about once or twice an hour ALL DAY LONG. Of course it goes out just long enough to shut the computer down and kill the Wi-Fi before it comes back up again. But let me tell you I sure am glad it comes back on again. I hate being without power. So while this situation is frustrating, I fully realize it could be so much worse.
Anyways I hope you are all having a decent day and are enjoying a warm house with plenty of food and the power still on!

I'm glad your power has not totally disappeared. "They" predicted we'd get a little bit, but if it did it was after dark and not enough to prove anything happened the next morning. I'm NOT sorry about that.

I love that attitude, @old-guy-photos. We have a choice! There’s a lot that’s wrong in the world, and daily life can be full of stresses and challenges, and problems. But it’s much more fortifying to think about what’s good. I try to do the same. I don’t achieve it every day, but I feel SO. Much better when I do!
I honestly feel it is the most agreeable way to face day to day life, whether it is an up day or a down one.
I'm glad that you are warm and mostly safe. Winter is not a good time to be without power.

I never tried living in the first world country, I am stack in the third world country where everything is hard. It's a hard life that you need to get along with the pain, smile in the pain and embrace it the pain.
I am once dreaming of getting out these country, looking for better pasture, better life and better opportunity overseas especially in the first world country. The problem is, I already have a family to look after. And there is so many what if? in my mind.
So better, staying and be grateful each day surviving these world of pain until getting out. Some mysterious day.
I think your attitude is good. Regardless where we find ourselves, I think the smartest option is to make the best of it, one day at a time.
