A killer was on the loose. This murderer had a very strange and striking killing pattern. They killed one out of a set of identical twins in the most bizarre manner. The strangest part was that they always left a note saying "the favor they never did you".
I knew the details of the cases because I had been reporting the series and covering every case for THIS DAY newspaper. I was given a pass to interview friends of the deceased and they all had very similar disturbing narration. The deceased was always the favorite of the set of twins, the killer always took out the kinder, smarter, and witty ones.
The police station was in a state of chaos the night before, I had gone there to get some details to complete my report for the morning edition of the newspaper. Mr. Zero the detective on the case only spared me a second, "another twin in Mile 2" he said, racing past me. My heart skipped a bit as I quickly tagged along with him.
When we got to the crime scene, I could see a girl of about seventeen. She was clearly broken and covered in so much blood. She looked up at the detective and as soon as she locked eyes with me, she yelled, " that's the killer! That's her, she stabbed my sister six times in the heart before she gorged her eyes out. She said she was doing me favor".
Before I could wrap my head around what
the girl said, I was apprehended and detained. I was already losing it within the four walls of the cell when the detective came in with six other girls, they were standing across the bar from me and as if rehearsed, they all chorused " that's her". My heart skipped another beat. I had never seen those girls before.
Without sparing me a glance, he led them away and as if doing a mental calculation, he turned back to face me and said, "it's no wonder I kept chasing shadows. You had all the leads, but how did you pull it off?" He looked deep into my eyes and walked away.
Soon after, the station was in another state of chaos. Turned out that there was another murder. Another twin had been killed. An hour later, the detective came to my cell looking sorry and puzzled at the same time. He curved his lips to speak but no word came out of his mouth. "You need to see this" He finally spoke as he unlocked my cell.
I followed him obediently and we came to an interrogation room. He led me in and as soon as I stepped a foot inside, I couldn't go any further, my legs could no longer hold the weight off my body as I staggered back in shock. I was standing in front of a spitting image of myself.
She gave me a wicked grin that sent chills all over my body. She slammed her hand on the table and yelled, " I could squeeze the life out of you right now. I did them a huge favor. No one deserves to go through a life of misery as I did. I was the least favorite one. Mother choose you over me because you were smarter. Even when she was broke, she chose to give me up for adoption. She left me for you".
