A delicious chocolate babka / Un delicioso pan con chocolate

This is without a doubt one of my favorite breads and every time I have a chance I do it. I don't know exactly how to translate Chocolate Babka into Spanish, I think some people call it yeast bread, I don't really like how it sounds so that's why I called it in the title simply chocolate bread. Hope you like.

Este es sin duda uno de mis panes favoritos y cada vez que tengo oportunidad lo hago, no se exactamente como traducirlo al español, creo que algunos lo llaman pan de levadura, no me gusta mucho como suena así que por eso lo llame en el titulo simplemente pan de chocolate. Espero que les guste.


Ingredients / Ingredientes

4 cups of flour4 tazas de harina
2 egg yolks2 yemas de huevos
120 grams of butter or margarine120 gramos de mantequilla o margarina
1 1/4 tablespoon dry yeast1 1/4 cucharada de levadura seca
1 glass of warm milk (you can replace with water or orange juice)1 vaso de leche tibia (puedes reemplazar por agua o jugo de naranja)
1/2 cup of sugar1/2 taza de azúcar
1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 cucharadita de sal

Preparation / Preparación

  • We put the yeast to grow with the milk (you can replace with water or orange juice) and 2 tablespoons of sugar.

Ponemos a crecer la levadura con la leche (puedes reemplazar por agua o jugo de naranja) y 2 cucharadas de azúcar.

  • Now that the yeast is ready we mix all the ingredients except the salt.

Ahora que la levadura esta lista mezclamos todos los ingredientes excepto la sal.

  • We knead for about 15 minutes and when the dough is integrated add the salt and knead again for another 5 minutes.

Amasamos unos 15 minutos y cuando la masa este integrada agregamos la sal y volvemos a amasar otros 5 minutos.


  • We let the dough grow between 30 and 40 minutes and knead again to remove the air.

Dejamos crecer la masa entre 30 y 40 minutos y amasamos nuevamente para sacarle el aire.

  • We put the dough on a wide and stable surface and then we will extend it until it is thin.

Ponemos la masa sobre un superficie amplia y estable para luego extender nuestra masa en ella, de manera que quede delgada.

  • We spread our chocolate on the dough. If you want you can add nuts.

Esparcimos nuestro chocolate sobre la masa. Si quieres puedes agregar nueces.

  • We roll the dough

Enrollamos la masa

  • We divide the roll into 2.

Dividimos en 2 el rollo.

  • You can shape it as you like.

Puedes darle la forma que gustes.

  • We put it to bake for 30 or 35 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.

Lo ponemos a hornear durante 30 o 35 minutos a 180 grados centígrados.


  • And this is the wonderful result. Really delicious!
