Hello everyone,
Healthcare has been a very important defining factor in the lives of people around the world. This is so because, as humans, we are bound to fall ill from time to time. There is therefore the need to have a proper healthcare system in place.
The government has made an attempt to help out with this through the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). This is a scheme meant to help facilitate healthcare by covering some medical expenses at the hospital.
In my opinion, it is not working well at all. I say this because, when you visit the hospital, there is only little coverage this health insurance gives you. Basically, it is only for consulting and maybe paracetamol. As for the rest of the drugs, you have to buy yourself.
How good is this so called health insurance then? If it is going to help us in the long run, it needs to be able to cover some significant part of our bills since most people only fall sick once a while.
In certain parts of the world, any child born to the state partially belongs to the state and is therefore taken care of partially by the state. How is ours helping us?
Mind you, this insurance is not free since we pay for renewal each year.
What if the government didn't just put a number of first aid medications under the NHIS coverage but rather covered a significant part of your medical bill, say 50%? Wouldn't that help out?
I think we can do it with our resources if leaders would stop squandering them all to themselves. Life is more precious as such government policies should directly impact our lives positively too.
It is high time something was done to help mitigate our current health status.
