Hey everyone, I hope you all fine in current situation. If you have a car, a place you can take a person or two or whatever that your friends may need, be sure to help out and be a good human. It's really important that we help each other now.
With that out of the way I wanna talk about a lens that i don't see used often and in creative ways- The Fisheye.
I see it as if in most peoples eyes (and hands) its more of a gimmick than an actual lens choice and most people see it as an action (sports) lens of to just make funny portraits.
I've been digging like crazy over the internet to find photographers that utilize that lens in a more artistic and creative way with little to no success. If you know any of you have created some work a fisheye, please comment bellow with links. I would be grateful and upvoteful :)
What I think is that there is an untapped potential in those lenses that is worth exploring. The first topic or use that I see is photographing humans - either for fashion or for fun. With the characteristics of a fisheye lens you can exaggerate body features. You can elongate legs and arms or shape baddies in all sorts of ways
I did a few shots with models to try out some of the ideas i had for that.
Another thing it lets you do is take shots from angles that wouldn't work with other lenses. There is so much you can do in experimenting with a model and a fisheye that i think anyone that has one should take the time to try different poses and compositions. You can get really crazy with posing given that this lens lets you get the whole subject in frame from a really close distance or tight spots.
Another more often seen use of the fisheye is for landscapes.
A really basic but important thing to know is that if you have a line in the middle of the frame vertically of horizontally, it's going to be kept straight .
This in combination with some clever composition can lead to some really cool shots that don't scream distortion
when you look at them
Another cool thing you can is straighten your fisheye images in post so that you still get the wide field of a fisheye but get straighter images and save some money on a straigt superwide lens (those are quite expensive in comparison)
Ofcourse that would't replace a lens in your kit but can get you some share worthy results
The third idea i have for that post is so obvious yet not many people go there - Street photography. The category that is one of the most popular in contest , social media and beg exhibitions (lens culture, Magnum etc...). Most of what i see is the use of 35-50 mm lenses and sometimes but not as often there are people using 24mm or 28mm.
The fisheye can be super fun on the streets. it can let you get a ton of the surrounding in your shot and really show the scenery around while also putting a focus on you subject
In the current situation you can try a lot of stuff with a fisheye at home due to the fact that you can capture the whole room in one shot so there is a lot of options for trrying new things
So two lessons today - one is that you can find many uses for your fisheye
and two is the age old cliche that the mother of creativity is in experimentation
Hope you found something inspiring here and would try some new stuff with a lens like that.
Would love to here your comments on my shots and receive some from you and your experience with suck a lens.
I had this post on steemit before I transfer here so it continues to be a part of my blog.

I wish you all a lovely day !
I have such a lens only as an invoice for the iPad.
But it is a good idea for creative photos.
Yes, experiments are needed here, it should be fun :D
It's a whole new world with the fisheye. I like the control over perspective it gives you. I actually want to get me a lens for my phone cause I want portability with my fisheye and the combo of the Canon 80D with a Rokinon 8mm isn't something i would take on a bike ride.
With a fish eye, I just tried it on a tablet. But a little. However, the effect was pleasant, unusual. I will need to experiment to understand whether it is worth buying a fisheye lens for the camera.

The perspective of viewing the photos from this angle is really interesting and more immersive. This is great for people to be able to "feel" better what the image wants to show.
