Quiero hablarle de este hermoso y maravilloso pueblo que me vio nacer y crecer llamado San Antonio de Capayacuar o San Antonio de Maturín, ubicando en Venezuela,Estado Monagas, fue fundado el 7 de agosto de 1713 por un misionero capuchino llamado Fray Gerónimo de Muro juntos a los indios que habitaban la zona para dicha fecha.
Empezando el recorrido entramos a este hermoso valle, y nos da la bienvenida un hermoso mural tallado en piedra donde podemos apreciar una representación del fundador del pueblo junto con los indios, destacado la silueta de una serpiente gigante la cual da nombre a una conocida leyenda de este poblado y la cual mas adelante en un nuevo post les estaré contando mas detalladamente.

Luego de pasar el mural cruzaremos por el puente donde tendremos una vista del llamado Río Colorado haciendo honor a su nombre por su característico color oscuro,tiene varias pozas, las mas conocida y visitada la Poza del lion donde puedes pasar una lindo día bajo la sombra de sus arboles y dándose un refrescante chapuzón.

San Antonio es un pueblo para pasarla bien y divertirse, siempre encontraras personas riendo, tomando y pasándola bien, el 13 de Junio de cada años de celebras las fiestas en honor a su Santo Patrono, donde se hacen varias actividades como misas y una procesión para los devotos de San Antonio de Padua.
Cabe mencionar que nuestro pueblo cuenta con una bella iglesia que data del año 1793 construida por los indígenas del pueblo dirigida por el fraile capuchino Juan de Aragües y que es un monumento histórico desde 1960.

En San Antonio tambien se disfrutan de los deportes, principalmente el béisbol,softball, fútbol sala y baloncesto, cada año se hacen diferentes torneos siendo el béisbol y el softball el que cuenta con mas audiencia y mas afición de parte de los pobladores, varios jugadores de San Antonio han sido reclutados para jugar en las grandes ligas, este año se recluto a José Alejandro Rojas y Juan Carlos Veliz, el primero de ellos firmo con Gigantes de San Francisco, en tanto que el segundo lo hizo con los Mets de Nueva York.
Me gustaría mencionarles también que estos últimos años se ha estado practicando vuelos en parapentes en una zona de nuestro pueblo llamado Los Caballos.
San Antonio también es conocido por su café, el cual es cultivado y procesado en la región, se cosechan otros rubros como los naranja, cambur, piña entres otras hortalizas.
