While going about my daily activities today, I decided to give alm to a beggar on the street and in the process of giving out the little I had on me, I realized that my hands was on the top and the of the beggar, begging alm was underneath and it's this act that brought to my understanding, the essence of giving.
Now, what's giving? To my own lay man understanding, giving is an act of generosity. This implies sacrificing what you have to take care of others. Though it might not be much, but can make huge impact on the life of the receiver. Which is the best thing to do.
Sometimes ago, I don't believe in giving and whenever I see people begging alms, I used to look ar them as the unserious element in the society. But when life happened to me, i realized that, not everyone that begs for help are not serious, but, maybe the situation of life brought them to their knees. Though it wasn't that I was begging for alms up and down, but I cried for help and my voice was heard and thank God people came to my aid. So, after all that happened to me, I made it a matter of necessity to always help and give to those in need.
But, one thing that people are not really aware of is that, when it comes to giving, it's beyond dashing out money to people, or doing give away. But, one thing I want us to understand is that, giving can come in any form. It can come in the form of advice, encouragement, counseling and so on. No wonder people says, you don't give what you don't have. Yes, if you don't have good manner, you can give the same. So, it's only what you have that you give.
Another thing I want us to know is that, no amount of prayers can open door of blessing to anyone, but when the principle of giving is strictly followed, that closed door will be opened. No wonder there's a popular saying, that says, Givers never Lack. And another thing is that the hand of a giver will always remain on top no matter how and one major thing I want us to know is that it's better to give than to receive.
Hmm, even the holy scripture says, "Give and it shall be unto you good measure press down, shaking together running over..." So, looking at this scripture verse, one would notice that to give is better than to receive. This is not particular about religion but the principle of life. So, let's all imbibe the act of giving and be blessed in life. Thank God, my recent act of giving has opened many doors for me. Though, it's not monetary, but the word of courage I gave to a friend sometimes ago, lifted him up and afterwards, he remembered me and my story changed. So, in whatever capacity you may find yourself. Try to give, who know the next door to be opened.
