The magpie between the branches ^_^

in GEMS4 years ago

Hello Hivers, during these months I'm painting a lot of sweet (fat) birds and I'm feeling a little obsessed by every bird I watch when I'm in my backyard or when I walk on the side of the river close to my home. Usually I watch a lot of sparrows, blackbirds, some robins and other beautiful ones, but there are also some magpies here in my area and I think they are really fascinating birds!

Sure, their songs seems a little creepy to my ears and every time I listen them I think about some horror novels and movies, but I like so much to watch them when they walk on the ground (have you ever noticed how funny they are when they walk?).

Days ago, while I was walking with my hubby @paolobeneforti , I listen a magpie who was calling another magpie on the branches over my head! The magpie looked at me for a couple of second and immediatly came back to call his/her "collegue".

I had my camera with me and so I could take some pics of him/her:

Nice photos! I wonder if it's not a hooded crow or something else because it looks grey in the area where magpies have a beautiful, clean white color. Also, the beak seems more humped than magpies have. There are some interesting photos of hooded crows on Wikipedia. The one photographed in Egypt is almost white in the "grey" area so it's pretty similar to a magpie. But I'm still not sure. What do you think? :)

You got the photo up close. I so love the natural outdoors. Thanks Silvia

You're welcome, dear Troy! Hugs from Italy ^_^
