The Unexpected Teacher.

The structure, the size, even up to the not-so-looking good interior of the vehicle. At first, he started laughing because how could a car be so portable and beautiful at the same time? At some point, he entered the driver’s seat and played a little with the stirring wheel.

I wanted to tell him the story of the car when I was growing up. I wanted to tell him that after a bicycle, a Suzuki motorcycle, that particular car was the second-best thing after a Peugeot 404. Anyone with that car was rich, maybe not as rich as the owner of a Peugeot. It was used by the “it” men in the village. In fact, if you didn’t walk well, they could deafen you with their honk announcing their arrival and the need to pass, so you should pave way for them. But then, I decided to shut up, and let him do a proper exploring while I had a deep thought.

That car used to be the indicator of a new rich man or a popular man in town. Usually with their moustache and lousy voices announcing their arrival. Good old times, I thought.

It’s been so long since “nothing lasts forever”. Anyone that drives this car now will be assumed to be a nobody except the latest version of it though. But this particular one will make the person appear like a very old man that’s just waking up to civilization.

This car made me think that if this precious car with beautiful exterior and neatly designed interior, an indicator of wealth and influence could have an expiry date, then what makes us think our problems will last forever?

This car reigned for most of my younger days, but one day, gradually, innovators woke up, built different cars, and this design went into extinction. Phew!

The call from my nephew to ask a question jerked me back to reality. I responded to his question, and in few minutes, I was back in my thoughts.

I really was having a tough time, and despite all my efforts to find a way right through, it felt like I was swimming right back into it. However, what I didn’t pay attention to was the gradual healing from the roughness of the time that I even decided to go out with my little boy.

If this beautiful thing adored by all at the time of its reign could not last forever, then, the challenges I faced wouldn’t either. It was just for the main time, and it’s a process I needed to endure and maybe enjoy and learn from the way I navigated through. And, just like there are better beautiful and more efficient cars now, I will enjoy the sweetness of the breakthrough out of the challenge when the phase successfully passes.

Sometimes, maybe all we needed is to step out after all. I got back home feeling so at ease because of this one thing I saw. It was just a car to my nephew, but it was everything I needed for sanity. It was a breath of fresh air, and such a great day.

I was out with my nephew for sightseeing, and I saw this vehicle, and surprisingly, it was the most beautiful thing that attracted my nephew. Why? He has never seen such a thing before. Not that he hasn’t seen cars before, but this was unique to him.
