Good morning guys, I am back in this great community, today I am here to tell you that I am studying my second degree in Nutrition in the highest house of studies, the Autonomous University of Yucatan and as part of my professional training recently I was going to volunteer my services organized by the school and the University of Florida.
Les voy a confesar que si me daba un poco de miedo ya que voy iniciando la carrera, pero aun así me anime a ir con amigos de mi grupo, ya que no era obligatorio, quise ir por que quería ver de cerca las cosas que hacen en las visitas a comunidades.
I am going to confess that I was a little scared since I am starting my career, but even so I was encouraged to go with friends of my group, since it was not mandatory, I wanted to go because I wanted to see firsthand the things they do in the visits to communities.
Fueron varios días viajando a diferentes comunidades del estado, unas mas lejanas que otras, en las que muchas personas aun son maya hablantes, pero eso no fue impedimento ya que llevábamos traductor que nos enseñó algunas palabras básicas para poder comunicarnos.
We spent several days traveling to different communities in the state, some more distant than others, where many people are still Mayan speakers, but that was not an impediment since we had a translator who taught us some basic words to be able to communicate.
Éramos un grupo multidisciplinario de médicos, enfermeras, nutriólogos y trabajadores sociales así como estudiantes de cada rama.
Estos viajes además de ayudar a la comunidad brindando el servicio de salud nos ayuda a nosotros como estudiantes a crecer en conocimientos, así como a aprender a relacionarnos con la gente en cuanto a la atención, fueron varias las comunidades, ente ellas esta San Rafael Maxcanú, Mayapan, etc
We were a multidisciplinary group of doctors, nurses, nutritionists and social workers as well as students from each branch.
These trips in addition to helping the community by providing health services helped us as students to grow in knowledge, as well as to learn to relate to the people in terms of care, there were several communities, including San Rafael Maxcanú, Mayapan, etc.
El último día no pudieron asistir las estudiantes de enfermería por lo que estuvimos apoyando a los médicos a tomar signos vitales y tomar las medidas de antropometría de la gente, cabe mencionar que el primer día no enseñaron las enfermeras a realizarlo.
On the last day the nursing students were unable to attend, so we were helping the doctors to take vital signs and anthropometric measurements of the people, it is worth mentioning that on the first day the nurses did not teach them how to do this.
El haber asistido me hizo ver mas de cerca como vive la gente en las comunidades, las carencias en salud y la importancia que tienen estas campañas no solamente para los habitantes de la comunidad, sino que también la importancia en nosotros como estudiantes.

Having attended made me see more closely how people live in the communities, the lack of health and the importance of these campaigns not only for the inhabitants of the community, but also the importance for us as students.
