Life-changing adventures ahead

Exactly 5 years and 11 months after we once left our home country with our belongings in a few suitcases, not knowing if we'd even have a place to stay after two weeks, we are now returning to Spain. This time the place of departure is Budapest instead of our home country. We lived for 4,5 years in Budapest, thinking we'd have a nice and calm, financially good life. Although we're leaving in a much better financial state than when we arrived, it has been an enormous headache to get where we're at now. Thankfully, I can stop looking back and stay focused on the future instead. I want to capture all these huge changes that we'll be making in the next months so therefore I will start "The Expat Diaries" so we can always read back about what challenges we faced, overcame, and remember the good stuff forever!

Change of minds, change of hearts

For months, we've been exploring all of our options in detail. Looking at accommodations as well as flights, setting up the business as well as buying a car or importing one from our home country. Consuming that amount of information sucked the life out of me for a few weeks until I decided that I needed to simplify things to make it easier for my brain to deal with all the steps. We have gone back and forward several times, changing the estimated date of departure as well as our final destination. This was not easy on me honestly, I can't really deal with the back and forward stuff, it's too much to process, lol.

Simplified process

When we simplified the business set up a huge weight fell off my shoulders immediately, knowing that establishment would now come first, and from there we will set that up as planned originally. Meaning my brain immediately felt more relaxed as I could deal with all these terms that were totally new to me later when I'm settled down in Spain and don't have the 201 other things to figure out. Great, after this was decided, I immediately felt so much lighter!

Time to set things into motion

For weeks, we've been postponing giving our 2-weeks notice. Although we planned to give it for weeks already, we kept postponing. Reasons: "No accommodation yet, no flights, what if.." and more stuff like that. Lately, I've been experiencing quite a lot about how the universe is aligning things exactly as they should and I just need to have faith in the process. The end result will be fine, no matter what. But while dwelling in between two destinations: one foot still here without giving our 2 months' notice, while emotionally we are already in Spain, is not allowing the universe to set things into motion for real.

Cutting the ties with Budapest

Yesterday I saw it clearly as can be: I will book the tickets, the perfect temporary short-term accommodation will be booked and in this time frame we will find our new home. Remember that in 2016 we were also leaving our country with 2 weeks of accommodation, a workaway job in a hotel with our 3 months old baby. Although challenging, we managed to get the job done and later even settle down in Spain. This time we have no need for free accommodation, and therefore have a huge advantage compared to then and that alone should be enough to trust in the process. We will get where we need to be.

Today I booked the tickets!

You wouldn't believe how many times I went back and forward comparing the different fares to see if we were really better off with the family fare compared with the other upgrade. But to my surprise, this also meant we had 3 check-in bags of 10kg included. And honestly, I'm still wondering HOW I'm going to pack all our things in a few suitcases this time. The three extra 10 kg was a welcome surprise. Once booked, I felt I needed to secure a few weeks of accommodation to be sure we had a place to stay, I mean early June is tourist season after all. Going back and forward between accommodation and location, I eventually went with the only one where I instantly felt, this will be good enough for a few weeks, even if we have to work a few hours. It's close to the beach and also has a pool in the community area.

Oh yeah! we're going back to spain.png

This kind of sums up the current mood: excited, happy, and impatient lol. Did I mention that I'm excited?

OMG it's official!

Things have been set into motion and I'm all hyped! Time to pick up practicing Spanish again. Hello Duo Lingo & sweet summer mixes on YT. Here's one to get you into summer vibes:

I love listening to these mixes and practicing my Spanish while doing so. And it's also good to get into the summer vibes while it's raining cats and dogs here the next week ahead.

¡España, allá vamos!

When the time is right... ;<)

Dear @thisismylife, of course you are a very passionate person.

Reading the long journey of your life, of course you have managed to get through many problems.

BTW, who doesn't have a problem? The problem is in how we face and solve problems.

Letting go of several things and focusing on one thing is certainly better, and it will make it easier for us to concentrate on dealing with it, as you have done.

But, after hearing a song that you shared, it turns out that you are a very relaxed, energetic and energetic person, aren't you?

We all hope that you will be successful with the choice you have made and that it will be good for you.

It's hard enough to move 100 miles. I can't imagine how hard it is to move to another country. Thanks for sharing your trials and tribulations.

Mucha suerte Reina @thisismylife

Have fun in Spain and I hope everything goes well. It's a tough move to actually move out but nobody can predict how things will play out.
