We did it! This week, my husband and I celebrated seven years of marriage. It's unbelievable, but we both forgot about it. When I woke up, I felt something important was happening, but I couldn't figure out what it was. A few minutes later, my mother called to wish us a happy anniversary, and then it clicked. Oh my, it's our anniversary and we both forgot! I'm not angry 😊. This meant all my plans for the day, like cleaning the apartment, were not important anymore. Let's go celebrate and eat out! Why cook when you have a perfect excuse to dine outside?
Seven years of marriage is a big deal! We've had holidays, sorrows, joy, and resentment. We've faced many stages together and can't imagine life without each other. The seventh wedding anniversary, also known as the copper anniversary, is a perfect opportunity to express our gratitude, devotion, and love to each other.
People say the seventh year is the "seven-year itch," a time when couples might feel restless. Our parents always told us that if we made it to seven years, we'd be together forever. I never understood why exactly seven years, so I decided to learn more about it.
In 1955, Marilyn Monroe starred in a film called The Seven Year Itch. The story is about a married man tempted to leave his wife and kids for a younger woman. The title came from statistics showing that divorces often happened around seven years of marriage.
Despite the challenges, seven years is worth celebrating. We've achieved so much together—living in Austria, both having good jobs, and having our beautiful dog for 12 years makes us very happy.
Now, let’s talk about how we celebrated. There are traditions for the copper wedding, like starting the day with a big cleaning spree. But let’s be real, I’m not the kind of wife who cleans the apartment alone. I have a husband who does this stuff with me. So, we skipped the cleaning and played Omaha poker instead!
To keep the traditions alive, we made sure to include the number seven in our celebration. We set up seven candles on the table and exchanged copper coins ( poker coins) :) which are said to bring prosperity and symbolize a strong bond.
We had a great time reminiscing about old memories, looking through photo albums, and sharing laughs over funny stories. It was a day filled with love and laughter, and we even ended the night with a toast to many more years together.
Here's to seven wonderful years of marriage, full of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Cheers to us!

Hey @bleujay, long time no hear :) It was a great day indeed. I won all the money 😂 He is still not happy that he lost at poker, but the wife always wins no matter what. 😂 Thank you so much and thanks for stopping by :)
Tough times never last but tough people do.
❤️
You’re right ❤️ but still, you need to start cooking for me every Sunday, or this won’t last 😂
Happy 7th wedding anniversary 🎉
Wish you a great life ahead 😊
Thank u so much ;)
Happy 7th year wedding anniversary to you and your husband.😊 Hope even though you forget anniversaries, still your marriage is intact.😊😊
Thank you so much 😊 Oh, we have a deal, if we both forget, it's okay, but if only one forgets, then that person needs to pay for the food and do everything that needs to be done that day. 😂
Hahaha, it's a nice deal .😁
Congratulations to both of you!
Lovely way you found to celebrate all the moments together merried in all these years
Beautiful to see you two both doing things together and taking care of each others through all the peaks and valleys :)
Thank you ;) It's really important to have some hobbies you love to do together. Now I understand why so many relationships end. If there is no common interest, then what will you talk about for the rest of your life? But, I don't know if he will ever want to play poker with me again because I finally beat him after so many years. ;) I took enough money from him to buy myself a great Lego set. Maybe that's why he's in a bad mood :))
Hahaa!
True, good point having similar interests would make it easier, more connected
Just so you know, I already bought Lego. ;))
