Traveling, finding out about local culture and food, discovering exciting new things certainly makes us more excited to live day by day. I went back to my trip to Solo late last year and found a local eatery but what made it unusual was that it was truly iconic.

Every wall in the restaurant is covered with ceramic displays. From plates, to ceramic figurines, to even household furniture containers, there's something for everyone.

It is a restaurant that specializes in Selat Solo. SELAT SOLO is a processed meat dish with various vegetable and carbohydrate toppings and a sauce that tends to have a sweet taste typical of Solo.

From the outside of the restaurant, you can see curtains made of small clam shells arranged so beautifully. The owner's name is Lies. So this restaurant is called SELAT SOLO MBAK LIES.

This restaurant is also viral on social media because (again) the place is unique. From the outside, visitors are already treated to a view of the ceramics that are scattered throughout the place. Like there is no gap that does not have a ceramic display.

I imagine if those who visit here are indeed ceramic craft lovers, must be very happy and feel like in a ceramic paradise.

After wandering around while waiting for my plate to arrive, I learned that these ceramics are a private collection collected or purchased by Lies from various regions and even other countries.

Even the table and chairs were all ceramic. I was amazed and wondered how many decades it had taken
for MBAK LIES to collect this much ceramics?

The ceramic plates on the wall have been written with messages of motivation and encouragement from relatives, acquaintances, and even some of the public figures who come to visit.

For the base, the inner room uses a full dark green carpet rug with various patterns.

In addition to the ceramic tiles scattered around, there is also a collection of paintings on the walls.

Entering Mbak Lies' restaurant to eat feels like entering an art gallery. No wonder Mbak Lies never runs out of buyers. There are always many customers from within and outside the city who come here to enjoy Solo Strait and various ceramic crafts.

When I arrived, the restaurant was not very crowded, probably because it was weekdays and during the day when people were working. After wandering around, my order arrived at the table, and I started eating Mbak Lies' Selat Soolo. Thank you for reading my post. See you in the next post.
