It's been like a month I posted on hive. The experience I had precisely on the 2nd of June 2020 is one that I'll never forget in a hurry even though I've been in a likely situation in April 2018.
Just like every other beginning of the month, people pray and hope that the incoming month brings us lots of goodies and good stuffs but little did I know that the beginning of the month of June will rather be another bad experience for me.
Firstly I'm a Nigerian who graduated from a polytechnic (HND) last year and it's a tradition for all college graduates to serve our fatherland for a year. Though the service is not free cos you'll entitled to stipends every end of the month and some minor allowances till the end of the service year when you'll be awarded a discharge certificate and then honorably move into the labor market in search of job or to continue your business if you have one. Like I said earlier,I graduated last year and I and other graduates like myself who passed out last year will be serving our country this year but due to the covid-19 pandemic outbreak during the month of March 2020, everything was ultimately put on hold and I was within the school area at that time and since everywhere was shut down,I couldn't return to lagos where parents stayed to be with them.
Fast forward to June 1th, a student friend of mine called me pleading with me to help him pay his school fees and also help get a national diploma (ND) form for his sister since he was staying very far from(another State) the school area so I agreed and sent him my account details for him to transfer the money to enable me run the necessary stuffs before the resumption of schools(remember that he sent me the money on the 1st of June being mondaay). On Tuesday being the 2nd,I woke up early and got dressed for school so I can go pay the school fees and get the form,I left my lodge at exactly 7.20am and on getting to the school's ATM,the first machine didn't dispense cash so I had to go to another ATM which was where I met.... should I say 'a stroke of badluck'? Anyways I met three guys on my way to the second ATM( a bit far from the first) and they stopped me,asked me to empty my pockets which I bluntly refused. I got into a fight with one of them but the others ran to his rescue and surrendered me with guns. They beat me up and made away with my phones, ATM card, wristwatch and cash. I thanked God I wasn't shot from that horrible nightmare even though they made withdrawals with my ATM card to the last penny up to #120,000 which is up to $300 leaving me in debts involving serious amounts of cash.
I already told my friend about the whole scenario and he sympathized with me, and gave me a good period of time to payback half of the money they stole from me.
Let me guess, you wanna ask me about the school securities right? Well the school securities where on the main gate at that moment and I guess those guys saw a very good window of opportunity to carry out their plan. I guess you also wanna ask me while I left so early to the bank ...well let me tell u that the bank we pay our school fees to is always crowded by students from Monday to Friday even though I forgot that the school was on an emergency break due to the pandemic and the bank will be a bit free. Well I learnt my lessons.
I really missed hive so much so I'm saving to get a new phone and also paying my debts gradually. I hope the month of July will smile on me positively but which ever way,I'm still alive and the hope is still on.
Lastly guys, be careful wherever you are. People are hungry and broke so they'll do anything to put food on their table. I pray we never experience any kind of evil.
Thank you for your time, and do have a lovely day/night.
Now you're in debt for the favor you tried to offer.. Damn
Sorry about it
Thanks dear. Even tho I'm still in debt, life continues and we move
