On Sunday, my book club members and I deviated from the normal monotonous way of discussing the book of the week to an extensive discussion on personal development.
Long story short, we narrowed down the 3 keys of development to being intentional, strategic and deliberate about our personal life and dealings.
And on that night I did a lot of reflections from the number of people I've encountered in the past months.
I remember when we started the book club four months ago and I was asking a lot of people to join us, persuading them to see the essence of reading and develop themselves. Some were glad I created the platform while majority of the people I met claimed reading was not for them.
Shocking right?
Of course it has to be, and I was privileged to have a lengthy conversation with one of them. I humbly asked of his plans for the next couple of years and he replied he had no plans but nevertheless, he sees himself achieving those dreams and goals and being internationally recognized in Nigeria.
Since I didn't want to pressurize him into joining my book club, I asked for the number of people he had strategically met to help him to get to that height.
Again, I was shocked. He told me he didn't need anybody to get to wherever he wanted, he doesn't believe in the human ladder shiid and he can achieve all he wants by himself.
At that moment I understood it wasn't books he needed, he needed a prayer session accompanied with the renewing of his mind.
The story above is by the way, the goal of the write up is to throw a question at you.
√ How intentional are you about becoming the person of your dreams?
√ What are you doing that must be done to get you to the height you want?
√ How many people have you deliberately befriended that will help you climb the totem pole? Or are you like my fb friend who "believes" he can do all things by himself?
√ What else do you need to add your personal development list that will help you get to the height you want?
√ How many books have you read so far this year to show yourself how serious you are?
I read a post about a week ago and I can't still get over it. This is definitely not the time to be lacking behind in any field.
Balance all your sets; your mindset, soul set, heart set and health set.
Don't tell me reading is not for you please. If it isn't for you, who else is it for?
I shared with my book club the list of the world richest men and guess what? They were all readers. Even the man with the tightest schedule reads 3 hours a day, can you please multiply 3 × 365?
Please let's not be bask in the bosom of ignorance and darkness, when light and knowledge is just a decision away.
Be intentional!!!
Success is not a fairy tale that requires a magic wand and a fairy god mother, you need to be intentional, deliberate and strategic in all you do.
Your decision to not do this is a decision itself.
I hope you got value.
