Hello everyone 👋
We were back up in the sky again earlier in the week! It’s been over a year since we’ve gone anywhere due to COVID-19 and our first trip out of Sydney was a domestic one.
It was a last minute decision to fly out of Sydney and to visit our family in another state. Last minute meant making a decision and booking our tickets the day before our flight out. Yup.
Since the beginning of last year, we haven’t flown anywhere and have been through lockdowns and isolations which meant lots of shopping from home and earning/ saving a lot of our frequent flyer points with Qantas. Even doing our grocery shopping earns us points so it all added up. Seeing that we had enough points to fly with, we decided to use them for this trip.
We managed to book business class tickets on the way to our destination and booked economy seats for the flight back. It was also our baby’s first flight ever and to make it more special, his first flight was done through business class. So lucky and spoilt!
With business class, we were able to use the business lounge. It was our first time flying business class domestically with Qantas and so it was the first time visiting the lounge also.
Let’s see what the lounge looks like!
At first glance, the lounge was filled with people in suits and it was clear they were on a business trip. Walking in with a baby actually made me feel a bit bad as I was worried the baby would start crying and break that relaxing and quiet environment for the people around. That’s when we spotted a few more infants in the lounge and felt a little bit more at ease.
The food served at the lounge was... average. Sandwiches, cakes, rice noodles and butter chicken with rice. Wasn’t anything like international business lounges.
After spending some time in the lounge, it was time to board our flight.
It was a great flight as we had plenty of leg room to stretch out or even to stand when we needed to settle the baby and put him back to sleep. Oh yes, how was it travelling with an infant? It was easier than I imagined and only because we made sure to have him well fed just before getting on the plane, having him dressed comfortably for the temperature on the plane, making sure he had his dummy for comfort and that it was his nap time while on the plane. So glad we did not disturb the people around us with a crying baby. That was my biggest fear initially about travelling with a baby. So glad things went smoothly.
Can you guess where we were headed to?
