It’s actually not surprising to me that most people take this two cosmetic product as one, as they both have some similarities between them, but their difference lies in their function as one can’t perform the function of the other. so its advisable to use both for our daily body care as we perspire (a form of excretion) every moment of the day.
Types of sweat
There are basically two types of sweat produced by the body, and this is because they are produced by two different glands in the body. The glands are known as ECCRINE and APOCRINE GLANDS.
Firstly the sweat from the eccrine gland (consists of salt andwater) which basically keeps you cool, this particular time of sweat doesn’t smell.
Secondly the sweat from the apocrine glands, this particular type of sweat contains deposits of fats and proteins and once mixed with odor producing microbes gives you body odour.
Deodorants and body sprays are a beauty-care product that makes you to smell fresh and fragrant through the day so they are a necessary body care.
The differences between this two products are basically in their use and function; When using a body spray without an antiperspirant or deodorant, body odour and sweat can still be a problem, so it's best advised to use both an antiperspirant deodorant alongside a body spray, that way you’ll be protected against sweat (which makes you prone to body odour and easily makes your clothes dirty) while rocking in your nice fragrance.
WHAT IS A DEODORANT?
Deodorant is a substance used on your body to protect the body from the odour caused by sweat., it is usually applied on the armpit.
Antiperspirant deodorant keeps the body dry due to the presence of aluminum-based chemical (mostly aluminum chlorohydrate) in its chemical consistuents. Antiperspirant Deodorant prevents the body from sweating as it usually blocks the sweat glands which prevents the sweat from mixing with body odor causing bacteria thereby preventing body odor.
Deodorant hides or prevents body odour.
There are various types of deodorants such as spray deodorants, stick deodorants, and roll-on deodorant.
What is Body Spray?
Body spray is a perfume-like product, so the strength of its scent is limited drastically. Its fresh scent lasts for only a little period of time. Body sprays contains extracts such as herbs, spices, and oils for nice fragrance which is mixed with a percentage of water and alcohol such as Parfum, propane, isobutene, and butane are some basic ingredients found in body sprays.
It is sprayed sparsely to the chest give a mild fragrance; you could also spray it adequately on the chest area for the full effects.
When compared to perfumes and colognes, body sprays are generally less expensive.
Basically the difference between deodorant and body spray that most people are ignorant of is;
• Deodorants gives the body protection against the odour caused by sweat while the body spray adds fragrance to the body.
• Body sprays do not prevent sweating or properly mask the odour of sweat like deodorants or antiperspirants.
• Antiperspirant sprays contain an aluminum-based chemical (usually aluminum chlorohydrate) that will reduce perspiration. Body sprays contains just fragrance and do not contain an antiperspirant.
Sweat itself does not gives odor, but when mixed with the bacteria living on/in the skin, it then leads to body odour.
Everone likes to smell nice, for me I love nice fragrance. Weird odour irks me, this is one of the reason I can’t eat one of my native food called OFADA RICE. you want to know about OFADA RICE? don’t worry I would talk about it later in the future and take you through the process of cooking it.
