So many of us neglect the purpose of drinking water, it’s such a shame because drinking of water is necessary for our wellbeing as two thirds of our body fluid is made up of water.
Water is colourless, tasteless and odourless, it is also the main constituent in all living organism body fluid and the earth’s hydrosphere.
Drinkable water is limited as fresh water quality is under constant pressure as there are various sources of contamination such as microbes, toxic substances and so on.
Even then we must ensure to keep our body hydrated as dehydration does more harm than good.
Reasons why drinking of water is so underrated
Most of us drink water only when we are thirsty or during meals, while some take other drinks.
We forget that the regular intake of water is beneficial to us in various ways than one. For instance;
Water forms our saliva which keeps the mouth moist and also aids in digestion
It aids In excretion by flushing out body waste
Maintaining the body blood pressure as dehydration makes the blood thicker thereby increasing the blood pressure.
Easy transportation of mineral and nutrients in the body is possible because water dissolved and transport them through the body.
It also prevents premature wrinkling of the skin.
It serves as a lubricant for the joint leading to the increase of the joint shock-absorbing ability.
Regulation of body temperature
This is just a few benefits of drinking water, it’s such a free medicine that we overlook, that gives us more benefits than consumption of drugs.
