Surely you have already heard about this topic, which is undoubtedly controversial in every way since the first announcements about its creation at the beginning of this week have not been clear enough for both the fans and the press, the Super League of Europe, a proposal that many sports analysts and even former soccer players and managers of organizations have labeled as separatist, selfish, greedy and shameful.
But where does it all come from? Well, it starts with the creation of the European Club Association at the turn of the last century. The most powerful group of soccer clubs in Europe, both sportingly and financially. Formed by 14 teams among which are the best known of each "European league" where only the English, Spanish, Italian and German league are found. What is the reason for the creation? According to the promoters of this proposal, the coronavirus pandemic generated "economic instability" for their teams. Why did this idea die so prematurely? Simply because of the discontent among the confederations, teams, sports fans, FIFA itself and even certain political figures, who warned participants in this competition of sanctions and of not being able to play in league matches or with their national team.
Who will participate? As I said, it is a rather delicate issue, but the question that personally arises for me is: Who is really affected? From my point of view the main affected would be the spectator, if you are one of those who like the real goal of soccer which is competition; on the one hand perhaps it is a good idea that the elite teams face each other, but where would be the "weak" teams that often surprise us when they beat one of these "Elite", on the other hand also raises the question of how this competition would influence the transfer market? In my opinion, it would be in a negative way since the best players would be hoarded among these big teams, which would also affect the competitions in local leagues and some teams; all this without mentioning the exploitation of players, which is already very high. Now, if the creation of this supposed competition were to take place, who would benefit from it? According to the communiqué we were given, it would be "the teams" that would obtain 400 million dollars just for participating in this competition, but in reality everyone knows that the only beneficiaries would be the owners of the teams, these big teams whose only interest is to make as much money as possible. Clearly we can notice the contradiction that falls the president of this proposal who assures that this competition is to help "the teams", but only to those who participate in it.
Yesterday, a day after the official announcement of its creation, Manchester City was the first to withdraw from this group, followed by the other English teams, then Atletico Madrid and the Italian teams, with only Real Madrid and Barcelona yet to make their statements.
In spite of being an initiative that "looks very good", it would have to be very clear with many questions that arise in its background, also to see who would be the real beneficiaries and to know once and for all what will happen with the Champions League, which for many soccer fans, this competition is like a religion.
Seguramente ya han escuchado sobre este tema, que sin lugar a duda es polémico en todos los sentidos ya que al darse a conocer los primeros anuncios sobre su creación durante el inicio de esta semana, no han sido lo suficientemente claros tanto para la afición como para la prensa, la Super-liga de Europa una propuesta que muchos analistas deportivos e inclusos ex futbolista y directivos de organizaciones han catalogado como separatista, egoísta, codiciosa y vergonzosa.
Ahora bien ¿de dónde surge todo esto? Bueno, empieza desde la creación de la Asociación de Clubes Europeos al término del siglo pasado. El grupo de clubes de fútbol más poderosos de Europa, tanto deportiva como económicamente. Formado por 14 equipos entre los que se encuentran los más conocidos de cada “liga europea” donde solo se encuentran la liga Inglesa, española, italiana y alemana. ¿A qué se debe la creación? Según los impulsores de esta propuesta dice que la pandemia del coronavirus generó "inestabilidad económica" para sus equipos. ¿Por qué muere tan prematuramente esta idea? Simplemente por el descontento entre las confederaciones, equipos, los seguidores del deporte, la misma FIFA y hasta ciertos personajes de la vida política, donde advertían a los participantes en esta competición con sanciones y de no poder jugar en los partidos de ligas ni con su selección nacional.
¿Quiénes participan? Participarían 16 equipos de los cuales estarían de manera permanente, los llamados miembros fundadores quienes son: Atlético de Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Inter de Milán, Juventus, Milán, el resto accedería a la competición por “méritos deportivos”, estos quedarían divididos en cuatro grupos de cuatro, pasando los dos primeros a los cuartos de final.
Como dije, un tema bastante delicado pero la pregunta que en lo personal me surge es: ¿Quién es el verdadero afectado? Desde mi punto de vista el principal afectado seria el espectador, si eres de esos que les gusta el verdadero objetivo del futbol que es la competencia; por un lado quizás sea buena idea que la elite de los equipos se enfrenten entre sí, pero en donde quedarían los equipos “débiles” que en muchas ocasiones nos sorprenden cuando derrotan a uno de estos de “Elite”, por otro lado surge también la pregunta de ¿cómo influiría esta competencia en el mercado de fichajes? A mi pensar sería de manera negativa ya que los mejores jugadores serían acaparados entre estos grandes equipo, por el cual también se vería afectada las competiciones en las ligas locales y algunos equipos; todo esto sin mencionar la explotación de los jugadores, que ya de por sí es mucha. Ahora bien, si la creación de esta supuesta competición se llevara a cabo ¿Quiénes serían los beneficiados? Por el comunicado que nos dieron a conocer serían “los equipos” que solamente por la participación en esta competencia según obtendrían 400 millones de dólares, pero en realidad todo el mundo sabe que los únicos beneficiarios serían los dueños de los equipos estos grandes equipos cuyo único interés es hacer la mayor cantidad de dinero posible. Claramente podemos notar la contradicción que cae el presidente de esta propuesta quien asegura que esta competición es para ayudar a “los equipos”, pero solamente a los que en ella participan.
El día de ayer, pasado un día de haberse conocido el comunicado oficial de su creación, el Manchester City fue el primero en salirse de este grupo, seguido de los demás equipos ingleses; posteriormente le siguieron el Atlético de Madrid y los equipos italianos, solo faltan por pronunciarse el Real Madrid y el Barcelona.
A pesar de ser una iniciativa que “pinta muy bien” se tendrían que tener bien claro con muchas interrogantes que surgen en su trasfondo, también ver quiénes serían los verdaderos beneficiados y saber de una vez por todas qué llegará a pasar con la liga de campeones, que para muchos de los seguidores del futbol, esta competición es como una religión.

Si, incluso lo he seguido desde el inicio del comunicado, concuerdo contigo, definitivamente un fracaso. Pero si nos podemos a ver, si los organizadores hubiesen puestos todas las cartas sobre la mesa quizás hubiesen tenido un mejor resultado, porque la idea como tal no es mala, aunque en cierta medida con el pasar del tiempo seria mas de lo mismo ver los siempre los grandes equipos jugar y seria predecible quien seria el campeón.
