In the early days of Steemit -my first blockchain based social network experience btw- the platform stood out for its off-mainstream nature. I enjoyed getting a different view of the world and getting to know a community that set me apart from the dullness of other social media silos. That's how I first came into contact with the still very controversial and hotly debated practice of cryonics.
Of course, this was just the beginning and after many roundabouts, how could it be otherwise, I ended up on facebook again. To my surprise, the topics were discussed in a critical and profound way that the debates in these groups on facebook still don't let go of me and I wonder if there are also a few hiveians discussing cryonics. It would be interesting to see what positions and perspectives would emerge from these debates. Would hiveians be able to go deeper? Would they be more sceptical? Which role would certain hive communities play? And of course it makes a big difference if someone just puts scepticism into words or manages to construct criticism in such a way that you can grow by yourself. To empathize with others and to get involved in their own world is probably one of the most intricate challenges.
Yesterday, I was nominated for a movie challengeRealive (2017) and Idiocracy (2007). Since I did not know the latter film yet, I used the challenge to watch it for the first time today: A military librarian wakes up 500 years later in one of the most stupid worlds in human history. Completely disconnected from the logic of his former life he somehow has to manage to get along in one of the most idiotic societies. What happens when the initial experiment (cryonics) mutates into a much larger experiment (life in a foreign world)? Where to look if there is not a single echo chamber to join because the whole world has completely crashed down from one's former average level? A very entertaining film in any case ๐ by @sciencevienna and I knew it should be a movie in exactly this area; for selection I had
Now some will finally pose the question, why is @yourfuture posting this article in our GEMS community and not in the Movies and TV hive community?
The answer is very simple:
It's an experiment!
In the end, the upvotes will be an indicator of how much my writing - if you want to understand it as sound - will resonate in the chambers of this community.๐ค
Whether there is any room at all for purely written text or whether text alone is immediately labelled as non-creative. The experiment will clarify whether for a higher payout in the GEMS community the post is doomed to be always bound to visual art. It will show how the GEMS community's concept of creativity is defined or if there are only a few selected "creative" people who have a chance to succeed (like the whale upvote circle jerking on Steemit a felt century ago)
My vote for the experiment! My account on Hive is also an experiment... :D
Lovely!!
This is exactly what I wanted to hear ๐
