Why Newbies Struggle to Grow On Hive: ~ My Three Days Observations

in GEMS4 years ago

Hello Bees! lol

Why I used New Girl is because I am three days old already on Hive. It's just three days but it feels like I have been here for weeks.
My past three days on Hive has been lovely and quite enjoyable.
If you read my introduction post you would understand better why I feel rather excited to write this post and also why I am giving my point of view for the last three days I have been here.
If you missed the introduction post, you can read it HERE
Like I made mention in the post, I had no idea why I came to Hive.
No, actually I know why I was here even though my purpose here was not properly defined or spelled out Still your new girl @zanoz.

I came here because I thought I could make the money, but another reason is that our economic system is changing rapidly and people now see the need for cryptocurrency and many are slowly adapting. So for the purpose of not being idle and also to learn a little about Crypto as a whole, I decided to join here.
This isn't really my first blogging platform but from what I have heard so far is that Hive is a tough place and only the strong survives it here and stand the test of time
Newbies are not easily recognized and even those with quality content and articles as well, so I heard them say.
But that didn't scare me off cause my mind was already made up to join and whenever I set my mind on something I don't back down easily.

I signed up for an account exactly 28 December 2020 late at night. I made my introduction post on the 29 of December 2020.
To be frank, I wasn't really optimistic about Hive at first because of the rumors that were spread. It might be true, it might be false but either way, there was no backing out anymore.
I came here with the mindset to excel and not to settle for less. I came with force, strength, power, and seal, to do my best and in return give my best.
After my introduction post, I noticed I couldn't do any activity again because I didn't have resource credit. I didn't understand what that meant so I made another post about it to ask questions but unfortunately for me I couldn't publish the post. I had to wait and kept monitoring my blog until a savior came along, commented on my introduction post, and told me he noticed I was out of resource credits, he gave me the link of where I can get 20 HP delegation to help me continue with my activities. I visited the site and I was given the HP but it wasn't enough. I was sad after using up the 20 HP resource credits in just a few hours.
I had no idea that every activity I carried out on the platform was charged from my resource credits. From my posts to my comments and replies, to even my upvotes and follows were all charged from there.
When I contacted someone @tripode. She explained all this to me and she said I will only have to wait for 24hours for my resource credits to recharge. I was a little sad cause I couldn't imagine myself waiting for another 24hours. I contacted a kind fellow and he delegated an extra 50 HP for me and with this, I could engage the system again. I was so happy and I couldn't stop thanking him.

I started engaging like never before. I loved the interactions on Hive and most of the people here gave me a warm welcome. I had fun reading through people's articles and reading their stories. I just couldn't help but noticed how lovely and nice Hivers or like I call them BEES here are lol.

Above is a little story, experience, and challenges I had as a three-day-old newbie. And aside from my HP issues, I don't think I had any other problem. I know I might not get the attention I desire right now but I do know with time I will get there. Like they say Rome wasn't built in a day and so I can't expect to reach the mountain top or peak in just a single day. I will take one step at a time and hopefully, I will get there someday.

Now to my topic, Why Newbies Struggle On HIVE? My observations
In every blogging platform, there is something known as INTERACTIONS. How well do you interact with the system and people on the same site or platform like you?
How many hours do you spend on a blogging platform, just exploring and engaging others?
HERE I was very fortunate to bump into a really good one on my arrival here by @adamada. This was the first post I read and it was quite informative and it has so much to enlighten us especially as a newbie. Maybe you should read it as well

Why we struggle as newbies in my observations are the following:

Interaction/ Engagement
Inadequate or lack of interaction as a newbie makes blogging very difficult and stressful for us. We will hardly get some attention we desire, not because we aren't making quality posts or publishing quality articles but simply because of the poor level of our interactions in the system.

Inconsistency
A very determined person is always consistent in whatever he or she does. But where there is inconsistency in any field of work or interest then the struggle is bound to be there and this will always lead to poor results or outputs.

Focus
Lack of focus also leads to a major struggle. If you are not focused and you do not set goals and aim for yourself then it becomes difficult for you because it will seem as if you are always busy working yet nothing to show forth for.
Have a focus, work and strive towards achieving the goals and targets you set for yourself.

Eagerness
This is the most important and salient point. When you are too eager for something then you end up losing it. Like I said that Rome wasn't built in a day. Many people come in here eager and hoping to just do their thing, get the money, and off they go. But it doesn't work that way. You have to pay a Price to get a Prize. And the price you need to pay is to work. Work for anything you want and don't fold your hands, waiting for manna from heaven.

With these few points of mine, I have been able to enlist some of my observations as to why newbies tend to struggle on Hive and even another blogging platform.
I understand you might be doing everything I mentioned rightly but it seems the positive result is still not available to you or coming to you. Do not be discouraged, exercise patience, and keep doing your best and giving your best and certainly one day it will surely pay off and in good coins.

If you are a newbie like me here and you are struggling thereby complaining and feeling left out in this huge space, then take my advice and do the needful from now on and see a positive turnaround. Start exploring each time you have a chance and time, engage, and interact with others as much as you can. Have a focus and stick to what works for you. Be consistent and don't be ON and OFF, it will really help your growth.
And finally, always remember that Rome wasn't built in a day as such you will someday reach that peak you aim at, certainly you will. Trust your heart and be guided.

If you found this post informative, please do well to appreciate and reblog, thank you!

Say Hi To @zanoz

Sort:

I really found this very informative and as someone that have been in the platform for just 24 hours, I would have to be under your shadow as a newbie despite the fact that you are just as new as I am 😂.

I completed my sign up process this morning and I was still navigating through the platform when it suddenly became impossible for me to perform any action. I thought that I was muted even before starting my race 😂

Loll... It took longer than a while for me to realise what was going on but I was lucky enough to meet lady that gave me 75hp which I'm currently using now.

I'm trying to create a post but attaching the image source or embedding the link like you did is giving me a huge challenge. If you don't mind, l would like to meet you in smile discord channel for some guidance. (I joined the channel some hours ago)

Welcome to Hive Kenechukwu, funny enough we both are new here but I wouldn't hesitate to help in any possible way I can. Yeah I noticed you in the smile room even before seeing this comment.
Muted? lol. I had the same issues as I just narrated in my post but I never thought of it as muting lol. Wonder why you thought about that when you just started out here lol.
I will meet you at the discord channel when I am a bit free but remember you can always chat up with anyone in the room and they won't hesitate to respond to you if they are available.
Welcome again. Will see what you would bring to the table. Happy blogging!

Thanks for the warm welcome 🙏

I hope to bring something sumptuous to the table. Well Done

That's good then. Take you time and have fun

Welcome! You should make an introduction post when you can (and if you want to), using the tag #introduceyourself !

First Hive Power Up Day of 2021 - Get a Hive Power delegation

You are so welcome to Hive and it great to see you've understood so much under your 3 days here. I smell greater heights for you. Keep it Rocklin!

Yea. Thank you so much, dear.
I love it here as I will do my best and give my best too.

That's a lot of wisdom you've gained for being 3 days old on the Hive. Hang in there, the first month was the toughest for me especially the first two weeks. I am amazed at how much engagement you have done in such a short time given the limited resource credits. Interactions make the Hive experience most pleasurable.

Lol, I was more amazed. I guess the energy and strength I came with was way beyond my resource credits 🤭😂
It may not be very tough for me cause so far I am enjoying this space and having a lot of fun too.
And when I have people like you, I don't have to worry much 😘
I am doing my best and hanging in here. Thank you wonder lady!

Hey newbie, welcome on board!

Sorry, I haven't had time to get back to your comments on my post yet, been a bit tied up today. You're doing great for a three day old, keep it up!

Thank you. I will surely keep this up and sorry I am just replying now. I finally got RC to do some activities now that is why I reply a little late. I hope you don't mind

I must say, I really enjoyed your article, really beautiful. I took my time to let myself grab every information, and trust me dear, you hit the nail right on it's head. You did point out a lot of the challenges so many persons face when they join the platform. When I started on the platform, I didn't struggle, not because I was perfect, but because I had the right guide from people here on the platform, I made a few mistakes and learn some of my lessons the hard way but never did I feel the platform was too hard, why because, before even thinking of the reward, I always set my mind first on building my mark on the platform. I recently returned back after a long three months break (personal life crisis), while returning, I thought I would struggle and start all over again, but my dear, once you've done your homework, trust me, you are bound to excel. You are very much welcome to the platform, just stick to rules and be happy with the outcome of each posts, and you will be just fine. Also, communicate with @starstrings01 the dude is an active bee, and I know he would love to help anytime. Have a nice time on the platform, you're welcome.

Having the right guide can make one sail through easily and successfully.
We issues and challenges some people might have faced might not have come to you cause you were guided by the right set of people.
Sorry about your three month leave because of personal crises. I hope all is well now.
Yes I am already communicating with starstrings, thanks for the suggestion
And thanks for welcoming me

Well, most of those crisis have been resolved, I'm quite alright now thanks. Once again, you're welcome.

Welcome to HIVE. I enjoyed reading your blogpost. Looking forward to reading more from you. All the best. :)

Welcome to Hive.
Thanks for the honest feedback. We are already working on delegation of resource credits so Newbies can get them and have a good user experience at start. Onboarding process is a bit technical but community here is very supportive. If you don't understand anything just ask out for help. Now we also have a chat system here on peakd.com (An interface to interact with hive). if you are crypto enthusiasts you will love leofinance.io community.

Welcome again and have a happy new year. You can find new projects and hive games related content on my blog. :) Feel free to ask for anything. :)

Oh, I saw this rather too late but it's alright cause I already got the help I would have needed.
Yes, Give is doing its best for the community members and users.
Thanks for the interface you recommended, truth is I am already using that.
Thank you for the warm welcome

Welcime to HIVE. Now what?

Thanks for the mention and glad you found my post helpful. The thing about posting rewards for new users is caution not to fall into complacency. Whether you are new or old to the platform, posting rewards are not guarantee. You can expect occasional decrease of rewards because the price of Hive can go down and that's generally beyond anyone's control, or at times have your posts downvoted.

The takeaway is not having a sense of entitlement to whatever content you put. Sometimes you get rewarded with big upvotes and sometimes you don't. So enjoy the rewards when you can but treasure the generosity of the people that gave it. I think many don't realize from the post I made is that I didn't get high rewards because it was good alone. I got that because of the generosity of the community that supports me.

I don't understand when you talked about posting rewards. Can you please throw more light on that? I know about the upvotes system here and how generous whales are sometimes to some people so I know their upvotes aren't a fixed thing, sometimes we are just fortunate to receive them.
Thanks for your comment.

Never be too complacent about posting rewards. These don't necessarily mean the post is good, it may just mean people are generous enough to give you the support. Sometimes it's not really about high staked users valuing the post but more on valuing the person. I see users that get consistent support but never really interacted with other users. The lack of interaction and the illusion that their own content published is good for consistent rewards can get one in to be delusional about their own value to the platform. These can all change anytime that's why I don't count rewards on whatever post I make. We earn not by our content but out of the generosity of the users that surround us.

Oh, now I understand.
Thank you but I don't think I did that and I ever will.
Having a good upvote on your post is good but it is also good to have a genuine user who engages your content and adds value to it.

The delegation was given to you because of the zeal I see in you and I believe you would do just great in here.

Hive Cross Culture's curation project.
• You will receive a percentage of the rewards from our curation post.
• And this post would be featured in our next weekly digest article.By the way, I am @starstrings01 and I've chosen this post for 100% curation in

Hive Cross culture is a community for conversation about culture. This can be national, local, community, or personal culture, subculture or your ideas about culture, language posts etc. We also invite and support bilingual posts, and are searching for ways to support and grow the local communities on Hive. Come join us in our discord chat if you are interested!

Thank you once again for all the help and guide.
I won't disappoint

First of all, thank you for your mention. And you are absolutely right! Hive should be more flexible with newcomers, because we always come here with a thousand wishes to run, comment and interact, and RC limits us.

But don't worry, I've already seen some projects that help newcomers, and I even saw a website that explains how everything works at Hive. But they are in process.

You should also have in mind that this platform is relatively new, we are the pioneers of it, and we will see how it grows, so we have to be patient.

I loved your post, and continue with that spirit, I promise it will be easier later!

Thank you for your guidance throughout these few days I have been here.
We will certainly be patient with hive to see it grow and gives us all we need and desire.

The pleasure it´s mine!! We are here to help each other.

Welcome to the platform again! I personally just post one in a day and it has worked for me so far. It's not about how often you post here, you just never know about the upvotes if you get them or not. I hope you like it in here!

Yes I like it here and I am not really bothered if I am upvoted or not in a particular post. So far I give my best into making the post
I have a maximum of two posts if ever I want to post.
Not that I post often.
Thank you for the warm welcome
