Apple or Malus domestica is a type of fruit that comes from the Malus genus and belongs to the Rosaceae family. Apples have fruit with red, green or yellow skin and the white flesh is a little hard, sometimes there are also masir. Apples were first grown by Central Asians.
Apples are usually eaten raw without being processed, sometimes apples are also processed into apple cider drinks, applesauce, apple cider vinegar, apple chips and many others.
Apples are very popular with many people, if you want to grow this fruit yourself at home, there's nothing wrong with it. Usually planting apples using stem cuttings, grafting seeds or grafts. Because it is difficult to find apple seeds, you can do planting using seeds. If you want to plant apples but don't have a large area, you can plant apples in pots or apple caps.

To grow apples from seed is by seeding until the seeds sprout. For this, it really requires full attention, one of which is manipulating the room temperature of the cardboard growing media because apple trees will grow well in environments that have cold temperatures.

Collect 2 types of apple seeds, this is because the apple tree cannot self-pollinate when it is difficult to enter the fruiting period if you plant only 1 type of apple.

First separate the apple seeds from the pulp and then dry in the sun so that the outer skin of the seeds is not moist. The next process is to put the dried apple seeds into a tissue or cloth. The tissue or cloth is used as a seeding medium which is then placed in a container and closed tightly. Besides tissue, you can also use peat soil for the media for seeding. After being tightly closed, put the seedling container into the refrigerator, this stage is also called the after ripening stage, which is to condition the apple seeds as if they were in winter. Set the temperature to stay around 40-42 degrees farenheit or 4.4-10 degrees Celsius. After about 8 weeks the apple seeds begin to grow shoots and roots.

Apples are suitable for growing in cold temperatures. For example in Malang. To grow sprouts from seed, it takes a cool temperature. You can manipulate the temperature by putting it in the refrigerator. First, what needs to be done is to put the dry seeds on a cloth, then wrap the seeds using a watery tissue and put them in a tightly closed container.

The container can be a plastic bag or a jar. Place the seeds in the refrigerator at 4.4 to 10 degrees Celsius for 8 weeks. The seeds will sprout and germinate at that time. After 8 weeks, the seeds are ready to be transferred to the soil medium.

To plant apple seeds in potting soil, it is best to have a neutral pH soil. Make a hollow in the soil in the pot two or three times the size of the germinated seed. It is not recommended to add fertilizer to the soil. Transfer the seeds carefully because the roots are still very soft. Put the seeds in the hole then cover the seeds gently with soil, making sure to pat the soil gently. Water the seeds to keep the soil moist, but don't overwater it. Place the pot at room temperature but try to get enough sunlight. You can place the pot next to the window to get enough sunlight.

Seeds that have sprouted and taken root are then moved to pots or polybags. but previously the contents of the pot or poly bag were filled with planting media in the form of peat soil mixed with manure in a ratio of 2:1. After planting, place the pot or poly bag at room temperature, but try to keep getting sunlight. Perform regular watering until the shoots have leaves. This process will take about 3-4 weeks. After the apple plant has 5 to 7 leaves, the apple plant seeds can be transplanted into a larger pot.

Prepare a large pot or adjusted to the size of the apple seeds to be planted, but try to be large because later the apple tree will grow. After that, fill the pot with the planting medium in the form of a mixture of soil and manure with a ratio of 2:1. After that, immediately do the planting. When finished planting, do watering to keep the apple growing media moist.

Perform regular watering, especially during the dry or dry season. In order for the nutrients needed for apple plants to be fulfilled, fertilize it every 4 months8 using NPK fertilizer. Usually after the age of 6-8 years after planting, the apple tree will begin to bear fruit.
