Welcome to Readers’ Week 2024, where we celebrate the thoughts and voices of our blooming community. This year, we invited our readers to share their thoughts on the theme “Clean Slate” as the academic year restarts - unfolding a tale of fresh starts, new beginnings and untold stories. From an array of incredible submissions, we’ve chosen the top seven, and as difficult as that was, these pieces best embody this powerful theme.
As we take you through these seven submissions, they bring to you their own interpretations. With that, we present to you the fifth piece, which truly captures the essence of starting anew!
नई शुरुआत

पिटारा छोड़ सपनों का, भोर उठ लेता हूँ मैं।
नटखटपन नहीं करता, सब कुछ खा लेता हूँ मैं।
निकल जाता हूँ, ज़िम्मेदारियों का झोला लेकर साथ।
लगता है अब हो गई है, मेरी एक नई शुरुआत।
ख़त्म हो गया है बालपन, आने लगा है लड़कपन।
हठ करना, पतंग उड़ाना, मिट्टी खेलना,
नहीं है अब ये सब करने की औकात।
लगता है अब हो गई है मेरी एक नई शुरुआत।
वो स्कूल से आना, बस्ता फेंकना, लट्टू खेलना।
पतंग लूटते हुए गिरना और हर घाव झेलना।
बचपन के बंद पिटारे की सौगात,
लगता है अब हो गई है मेरी एक नई शुरुआत।
धूप, सर्दी, न बारिश का डर।
वो बचपन का खेलता हुआ हर पहर।
कमबख्त, आ गई शाम, करने मुलाकात।
लगता है अब हो गई है मेरी एक नई शुरुआत।
बदलते हालात, ख़त्म हुआ बचपन।
फट गई पतंग, टूट गया लट्टू, नहीं रहा कोई लड़कपन।
किसे समझाएं, ये हमारे जज़्बात।
लगता है अब हो गई है मेरी एक नई शुरुआत।
भरपूर जीना तुम अपना बचपन।
गिरना, पड़ना, लड़ना, झगड़ना, ना आने पाए जवानी का लड़कपन।
चली गई तो फिर न आएगी ये रात।
तुम्हें भी करनी पड़ेगी एक नई शुरुआत।
सपना टूटा, आँख खुली,
पल भर की खुशी फिर मिली।
क्षण भर में बदल गई सारी कायनात।
लगता है अब हो गई है मेरी एक नई शुरुआत।
