You can be the bison lady but I want no part of this, I like to keep the surprise encounters with potentially dangerous critters to a minimum if I can help it. You've been to Antelope Island haven't you? Was camping there and got woken up by the sounds of one having breakfast at the foot of my sleeping bag, was a lot closer to one of them than I ever have any desire to get. Especially before coffee.
I have, in fact this is where that was. They were pretty close, we were sitting on an outcropping of boulders and they were all around us. But we matched our vibes and everyone was chill. I've had to bypass them on hikes before. I've seen some hikers shoo them away with sticks. Dumb! They could really piss off a bull. Just go around and be calm and talk so they know where you're at. But yeah, they are formidable for sure. Two followed us for a minute when we left because they were curious, nothing more. It was sweet. And scary.
