Hello, clean Hivers!
it's a privilege and honor to be amongst you all. And it is my pleasure to share with you my first cleaning activity for the year.
For some days now, it has been rest, rest and rest from work due to the holidays. Some time out to either get some stuffs or attend to some things. It is true that I've been doing some cleaning work around my environment but I'm happy to share it with you this time around.
I resumed work today, and as usual I decided to step out very early in the morning. After arranging my room and taking my bath, I dressed up and headed out. But I resolved to do some cleaning activity from my house down to my workplace.
Just like saying 'good morning' to our neighbors each morning and exchanging pleasantries with them, keeping the environment neat and tidy is one way we get to say 'good morning' to our environment and the city in extension.
I noticed that not all of the people who sweep the streets each morning have resumed work, so I decided to help the very few I saw. I started my picking up a disposable nylon that will gather a reasonable amount of dirt and with that I headed out to the streets. I started with the ones I saw around our building's premises and after which I picked, one after another each littered rubbish I came across and putting them in the disposable nylon.
After packing these dirts, I stopped by the big waste bin on my way to drop the refuse I've gathered. To avoid being embarrassed I met one of the environmental protection agents I saw who was guarding the waste bin to avoid littering and to make sure nobody drops any dirt until it was time. I wanted to plead with him to allow me drop the dirts but when he learnt it was the dirts I gathered from the streets, he was very happy and allowed me drop it.
I enjoy cleaning my city. But I feel more prouder watching passersby stare in amazement. I hope this activity of mine will push as many people as possible to join in this 'quest for a clean planet'.
I love my city, and I believe you do too!
Here are some pictures I took while engaging in this exercise...
