Still More To Do?

in CLEAN PLANETyesterday

An inherent nature of human beings is the desire to want to get more; more of this, more of that. While there's a thin line to that and greed, I think people will always want more for some reasons. There's a place for satisfaction and there's a place for wanting to push more for greater heights and greater results. Nevertheless, I'll say that there should be a check against it developing into the subjects of greed and lack of contentment.

With the desire to achieve more, there's this direct and inherent attitude to do more to reach more, and ultimately achieve that more that’s intended. There's a realisation I've come about. And it’s that, the zeal to achieve more isn't only with those who are trying to reach certain heights or make their marks in life, but even those who have reached there are pushing to do more. That obviously is why the renowned persons we might know of in several industries are still making efforts to make new waves. They want to do more.

While such people may want to do more, people striving for some heights also tend to want to do more. In this case, it comes with that feeling of "I'm not doing enough". Yes! Sometimes—probably most times even—this thought comes when after doing all we could and making every effort, we seem not to be making a sort of advancement we wished. Like trying to build a brand for some years and yet you get only a little visibility with no major output from all that effort, the question that comes is that of "am I not doing enough?". I've had my own share of such trouble, leading me to question if I was not doing enough. Not just questioning, I felt it even.

While this question can spring from a sense of unsatisfaction; let's say you're putting up yourself to compete with someone, for the most case I'll say it comes from the feeling of not achieving what you desired—and true it is most times. There's validity to this feeling some of these times, as it tends to help one make reevaluation and put more effort.

Growing as a teenager and knowing there are responsibilities with adulthood, also knowing the age was close by, I knew I had to do better. At that point the feeling never really came up till a number of years later. Dwelling in the stage of adulthood and taking the responsibilities, I've felt like that many times. Such times were when I made efforts and tried to actualised some dreams and desires, but they seem faraway. I would end up thinking some of the days if I was doing enough; or maybe there was a little bit more I could do.

These feeling tend to become overwhelming at some point. It was like the order of the day. I bet you if you're that success driven person, you might feel much of that at some point, especially when things aren't going as expected and as worked for. However, I think we can find consolation when we know we've done the best we could but things didn't just go the way we had wanted. If not, then it's okay to know and feel that there's more we could, thereby we're not doing enough.

Human demand is endless because as soon we achieve what we want we still have other things we still want regardless of how much we have achieved.yess I agree contentment save us from unnecessary demands & pressure.

Absolutely right. We'll always want more beyond what we have achieved or gained. So we need to at some point and some times learn contentment.
