The idea of sports is one that cannot be spoken of in isolation, this is so because Sports have a way of achieving many things, it's not just about players on the field or on a court trying to win a competition but rather it encompasses a lot such as a form of entertainment, enjoyment, relaxation, building friendships, teamwork, resilience and so on.

There are so many sports in Nigeria and the world at large, while sports can be western, we also have cultural activities that takes place in various communities, such as local wrestling. One thing I have come to realize about sports is that they bring about unity amongst people of a particular community for instance, football, we can see how people especially the male gender support their favorite football clubs and to some extent people travel far and wide to attend football matches in different countries, this is because of the love, loyalty and unity involved, it also builds friendship and allows you to explore the world.

There are three kinds of sports I enjoy watching and participating in in these are football, basketball and volleyball. Apparently all these has to do with a ball. This prompt is actually nostalgic, I remember 6 to 7 years ago while I was serving in Ogun state, we had a 3 weeks compulsory camp before corp members were sent to their primary place of assignment.

During the cause of this camp the idea is to groom us as men and women in different areas such as building up our skills, development, growth and strength. While in the camp, I joined my Platoon team for female volleyball players, it was my first time actually but with vigorous and consistent practices I learned the basics of the game. Unfortunately, we tried our best but we just did not make it to the finals. Regardless, that platform gave me the opportunity to learn and be versatile in the sport of volleyball.

It actually did not end there because I have been playing here and there but just for the fun of it. While I was pursuing my masters degree, we had a group called The postgraduate catholic members and basically what we do there is to look out for each other as postgraduates and do activities together that concerns the church and our well-being.

So one time, we organized a picnic for ourselves after a hectic semester where we contributed money to board a bus to the place, to make snacks, by drinks and all. On getting to the place we made arrangements of the games to play which was football and volleyball. So we contested the boys against the girls, it was a funny moment but it was interesting and we enjoyed every bit of it but the boys won. After that you would think everyone would be tired and would like to retire to their homes or just sit and have fun but we all left there and went to the volleyball pitch where we mixed up boys and girls in two different things and we played and played till we were tired.

Apart from playing physically, watching the games on TV is one of the things I do and I try to keep up but it's not easy especially when there is a lot to do but whenever the game of football, basketball or volleyball is on, it gets my attention.

I love this games because they enable you to think strategically and to recognize that to be able to win you cannot do that in isolation rather you need the support and help from the people around you to win a particular goal. When we look at this games we see that they have an effect on how life should be treated. To win in this world of ours where we have so much competitors you have to put some strategies and a game plan in place to be able to tackle the enemy and to beat them at their own game.

promptThis is a part of my entry for the #februaryinleo as organized by the @leogrowth team with great initiative that members of Hive you can participate in this prompt and tackle them as you deem fit. In collaboration with @cleanplanet community.

I have always loved football. I developed a liking for basketball later on even though I didn't play it.
