The Weather : Seasons- A curse or a blessing?

in CLEAN PLANET2 months ago

The weather in this part of the world can be quite interesting. It has been extremely cloudy over here almost like a balloon waiting to be popped, it hasn't rained today but it feels like it will rain later tonight since it has been raining consistently for a couple of days now.

We have basically two (2) seasons the Harmattan season and the Rainy season. They are like Ying and Yang, Harmattan which is majorly characterized with dryness with a whole lot of dust and the Rainy season which is filled with wetness and mud.

The seasons remain the same however, the duration and strength of each vary strongly as the years go by. Some times the Harmattan takes the lead and other times it's the Rainy season that runs the show.

As my Alarm buzzed, it felt like I had slept for just 2 seconds. Was it cos I slept late or cos it rained almost all through the night and I couldn't get enough of the breeze that caressed my skin like my lover's smooth finger tips.

I got up and felt since it rained through the night then the possibility of rain through the day was quite low. You might be wondering who made me a meteorologist right?

Anyways, I washed some of the clothes I had worn through the week with the believe that the sky would smile down on us and not be teary like a child that was denied his favourite toy or cookie.

I didn't want to experience what I had experienced the weekend before which had me drying my clothes inside the house and turning on the fan to make them dry up not minding how long it would take since it wasn't like I needed the clothes urgently plus oh well, It's better than leaving it on the line with the rain that refuses to stop.

It was looking like my predictions were spot on, I could see the day look a bit brighter than the previous. I dried my clothes on the line with high hopes, got dressed for work and stepped out.

I had only walked about 100 paces, it started to drizzle. I just smiled and told myself "it's rainy season, what do you expect?" I left the clothes outside until it was no longer wet, this took longer than usual cos of the sun that seemed to be playing hide and seek.

These downpours can be a blessing and curse. A blessing cos of how refreshing and cool the weather becomes also farmers need it to grow their crops, A curse cos of how often it results in flooding which I candidly think could have been avoided if people engage in proper waste disposal, recycling and other healthy practices that would help make the world a better place starting from our individual communities

The Earth is our planet and we must take up the responsibility to make it flourish.
