As an introvert i love staying indoors and I hate travelling, especially long journey travels.
I wonder how people get to go on adventures and travel a long distance by road.
Because I hate travelling by toad I find it difficult to visit my home town at the east, I've had bad travelling experience in the past, but i think the last one was the worst of them all.
WORST EXPERIENCE
So, last year I lost my grandfather on February 2023, so the whole family was planning to travel to if for the burial, I can't say I want to be traveling because it's my grandfather and the whole family is going to be there, both nuclear family extended family and other relative, so I don't want to be the one who's going to be absent.
The whole family decided the funeral was gonna to be on April 2023, before then I was already making my plan to travel to the east. My plan was it a flight ticket, but my dad refused because the whole family was going to travel by road, I hate traveling by land because of the whole traffic thing and the time we're gonna to be spending in the vehicle.
I reside in Lagos and my hometown is in the east, it takes 8 hours drive from Lagos to the east. It's been 10 years since I traveled to my hometown , this was an opportunity to go visit there again.
The day for us to travel finally came, my dad was going to be traveling to car, we departed by 5:00 a.m. in the morning, at first journey was so smooth, we were enjoying the ride not until we started hearing a strange sound from the back of our car, my dad got down to check it he couldn't find anything wrong. Then he continued driving and the noise increased, then he came down from the car again and decided to pack one side away from the road to check what was really wrong with the car.
Then we found out that the brake pad what is making the noise, but every other thing in the car was perfectly fine. Meanwhile we spent over an hour trying to figure out what was making the noise. We continue our journey, the first 4 hours after checking what was wrong with the car was smooth, I thought we were never going to encounter any kind of obstacle or challenge..
A trailer driver was sleeping and driving, and he was driving towards our direction, he has lost balance already and wanted to hit our car, my dad quickly held is break and drove quickly pass the trailer driver, I will so scared, my whole heart was filled with instant regrets . My mom and my brother traveled a day earlier before us, I would have followed them because the traveled by air.

My dad had to park the car by the side of the road, he wanted to catch his breath because we were still in shock of what happened. After some moments of relaxing a bit we continueed our journey.
We continueed our journey once more, we got to the head bridge by 3:00 p.m., we met traffic, the traffic was so tight to the extent it wasn't even moving, it was so bad to the extent people started coming down from their cars, I also came down from the car because it was already getting hot inside the car and I was tired of sitting down for a long period of time. The reason for the traffic was because the other lane was under repair, so everyone is using the main road.
After 3 hours of traffic, cars started moving bit by bit, before we could even enter the head bridge it was already 10:00 p.m. at night, we couldn't even continue the journey, because it was already late and we could be robbed at that time of the night.
My dad's uncle live close to the head bridge, my dad called his uncle and told him we were going to come to his house to spend the night because we couldn't continue our journey.
We go to my dad's uncle place by 11:17 p.m.
This was supposed to be a journey of 8 hours, but you spent more than 10 hours on the road 🛣️
Honestly the journey wasn't smooth, that was my worst travel experience.
Since then I've not travelled to my home town or any place that requires travelling far.
I don't think I'm gonna travel by land after this horrible experience.

I actually love traveling, especially by road. Maybe it's because I get to create content for my blog, get to take more pictures and all that. However, I won't lie, it's always stressful with all the bad road and the insecurities on the road. The Benin road is the worst, very terrible road.
