MY CURRENT WEATHER

My best season and period in the year is the fall/rainy season but too much of everything is a disease as they would say and the month of August is a month we typically know to be dedicated to rainfall which means a greater and more intense rainfall, now for the past couple of days extending down to weeks, it’s been series of rainfall.

The worst part of this is that it could rain non-stop from day to day, not giving you a dry field or sunshine for your laundry for nearly a week. This is always very challenging and even more challenging for people living in riverine areas as they tend to experience a significant amount of flood and erosion outbreaks that can be very disastrous.

Lucky for me I don’t live close to the rivers but even at that, I’ve also been facing a little bit of
disturbing erosion around my area and I believe this should be a result of a poor drainage system to control excessive amounts of rainwater. but no, we do have a good drainage system, just that the erosion most times
supersedes the drainages and sometimes the drainage could get blocked completely which redirects the excess water out to
roads, highways, and even houses, which could destroy houses and properties and make life quite difficult for people.

I live in the south southern part of Nigeria which we regard as the typical rainforest zone as we are situated at the very edge of the athletic ocean. We often experience rainfall in at least every month of the year from January down to December. Yes, even on a Christmas celebration day you could be surprised with a drizzle or stunning rainfall depending. But despite all of these, I still value the rainy season more than other seasons in the year. Because it is a period where plants, crops, And vegetables happen to germinate properly and effectively compared to winter or autumn
seasons.

The rainfall and weather here in the south could be funny sometimes because most people prefer two
things either they experience heavy rainfall or no rainfall at all. But the problem we do have is that it could decide to only drizzle from morning till the next day without any proper rainfall which makes it look in-between and could be quite annoying to some people because we believe that come rain come
shine which means that after a rainfall the sun should be sighted so people can go about their daily activities so, therefore, having it drizzle all day lengthens the duration at which it It should have rained and gotten a hold.

Currently, we are in the month we often refer to as the August break. during this period, it is often that we experience about 5 to 10 days of sunlight with no signs of rainfall depending on which part of the country you find yourself and after now, we could a mighty fall till the month of September while we head properly into autumn and winter.

Here in the August break, you could see birds basking under the sun, showering with the remnants of the previous rainfall on the ground. The current weather is very satisfying and we can only hope for the best in the coming week when the August break finally subsides..
